The No. 15 Oregon Ducks baseball team (22-8, 10-4 Big Ten) had another huge day at the plate against the Michigan Wolverines (16-14, 7-7 Big Ten) on Saturday. The Ducks won 13-3 as Jacob Walsh broke the program RBI record and the bullpen shined after an up-and-down start from Jason Reitz.

Oregon walked thirteen times, including five times in a four-run fifth inning, which proved to be the deciding inning in the ballgame. Junior outfielder Mason Neville picked up four walks, after all of which he came around to score.

“They took their walks when they were available,” said head coach Mark Wasikowski, now in his fifth year as head coach at Oregon. “There were some pitches that were close, that they had good eyes on, but that sets the table for hits.”

The Ducks had nine hits on Saturday, but none was bigger than senior first baseman…

No. 5 Oregon softball win in style with a walkoff, taking down Michigan 5-4

On a sunny Saturday afternoon, the No. 5 Oregon Ducks (34-3, 8-1) continued their dominant winning streak, pushing it to eight straight, as they took down the Michigan Wolverines (27-11, 6-3) 5-4 in the first game of the doubleheader.

Oregon starting pitcher Staci Chambers (2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 1 K, 1 BB) began the day strong, recording her first strikeout in the top of the first inning. The frame was capped off with a strong defensive showing for the Ducks, with a double play after a pop-up to Katie Flannery at third base.

Michigan pitcher Erin Hoehn (6 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 5 K, 3 BB) started the day struggling against the powerful hitting offense from the Ducks. Kai Luschar and Paige Sinicki both found themselves rounding the bases after being walked and hit by a pitch, putting Oregon up 2-0 at the end of the first inning.

After Maddie Erickson ignited the spark for the Wolverines last night, Staci Chambers intentionally walked her during the top of the second inning,…

Oregon baseball dominates in 15-2 pouncing against Michigan Wolverines

The Oregon Ducks baseball team (21-8, 9-4 Big Ten) needed a spark after dropping a demoralizing three in a row from the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Portland Pilots. That spark came in the bottom of the fifth inning in the series opener against the Michigan Wolverines (16-3, 7-6 Big Ten) on Friday.

Junior designated hitter Dominic Hellman was at the plate in a prime situation with the bases loaded and one out. His eyes widened when he saw an off-speed pitch curving right into his zone, and he delivered. He crushed the ball and watched it soar over the left field wall as he took his slow trot around the bases. The decent-sized crowd at PK Park erupted, and the Ducks extended their lead.

This was Hellman’s third slam of the season, a program record for grand slams in a season.

“In that instance, I like to think to myself that if I’m ever in the box and thinking too much about a situation or thinking too much about a swing I want to put on a ball, I just make sure I…

MLB 6:40-7:00- Opening week breakdown

Valleau: Grayson Grinsell inches closer to the Oregon Duck strikeout record. Can he reach it?

The Oregon Ducks baseball team has featured many great pitchers who have rolled through the program, some having success at the next level. The headline of this list is Tyler Anderson, two-time MLB all-star and the all-time leader in strikeouts in Ducks history.

The list of all-time strikeout leaders in Oregon history has been locked down by Anderson since 2011. Some have contested it, like David Peterson in 2017, and fellow MLB player to Anderson. Peterson came up just short, though, finishing with 282, three short of Anderson’s 285 mark.

One thing sticks out on this list. All the players on the list are inactive from the Ducks team, except for junior starting pitcher Grayson Grinsell. Grinsell currently sits at No. 8 on the list at 192 — 93 short of Anderson’s mark.

That is still a substantial deficit, but with the rest of this season and possibly his senior season, it’s more than manageable.

With a senior season, this record is inevitably locked up for…

No. 8 Oregon softball becomes the first Power Four team in collegiate softball to reach 100 stolen bases this season

Melyssa Lombardi took over as head coach of the Oregon Ducks (26-3, 2-1 Big Ten) before the 2019 season, making 2025 her seventh season as the head coach of the team.

Prior to this season, the most stolen bases a Lombardi-lead team has swiped was 90 and it came last season over the course of 51 games.

Sunday against the Washington Huskies (21-9, 1-2 Big Ten) the Ducks hit 100 stolen bases on the year in a 2-1 series win, after playing only 29 games.

“It just shows again we can win in many ways,” Lombardi said. “We can win with our speed. We can win with the deep long ball. We can win with our short game and it’s important, the game is going to ask us to win in different ways all year so I just love how fast we are and the ability to run when we need to.”

Oregon is currently the only Power Four team in collegiate softball to hit 100 stolen bases on the season. The Alabama Crimson Tide is the next Power Four team on the list with 76 stolen bases. South…

Ducks get ready to spread their wings and leave the nest

“This is home for me. You never want to say goodbye, not even goodbye, this is just a see you later,” offensive lineman Marcus Harper II reflected on his last moments at the University of Oregon.

Oregon football hosted scouts from dozens of NFL teams at the Moshofsky Center for its inaugural Pro Day. This was a big opportunity for Duck draft prospects to make an impression on professional teams outside of the combine but before private workouts.

The mid-week showcase included 23 Ducks working out, as well as former Oregon wide receiver Chase Cota, who graduated in 2022 and had a one-year stint with the Detroit Lions and is currently looking to make an NFL return. The 2024-25 players were also joined on defense by former Oregon linebacker Mase Funa, also attempting to make an NFL team.

Oregon star tight end Terrance Ferguson was listed for Pro-Day but did not participate in any workouts. He spent the day in the facilities supporting his teammates.

Oregon baseball falls short to the Gophers 9-1 in the series finale

The No. 9 Oregon Ducks baseball team (17-4, 5-1 Big Ten) fell short on Sunday to the Minnesota Gophers (8-10, 2-4 Big Ten) in the last game of the series with a final score of 9-1.

After a five-hour rain delay and eight innings, the Ducks were only able to tack one onto the board after a Minnesota error.

Oregon stepped up to the plate straight off back-to-back wins against Minnesota earlier in the weekend to clinch the series, as well as a five-game winning streak in Big Ten play.

Despite the lack of offensive momentum, senior pitcher Jaxon Jordan and junior pitcher Ian Umlandt played a strong defensive game for the Ducks.

“Those guys threw really well,” head coach Mark Wasikowski said. “Those two pitchers, it was really good. They gave us a chance, threw a couple of zeros out there for us and I thought they were outstanding.”

Jordan pitched for two innings with five kills, while Umlandt pitched for 2 ⅓ innings and racked…

Ducks lacrosse's home loss to Rutgers brings them to 0-2 in conference play

As the northwest rain poured down, a single shot lit up Papé Field as Oregon’s Alex Matsuoka launched her free possession shot past the keeper. Her second goal of the year kept the hopes of a comeback alive.

This wouldn’t be enough, however, as Oregon (5-4, 0-2 Big Ten) would lose at home 10-6. Dominant first and third periods for Rutgers (6-3, 1-0 Big Ten) were enough to carry it to a win.

The Scarlet Knights got out to a big lead early as four different players put one past Oregon goalkeeper Paige Crowther within the first 10 minutes of the game. Oregon was able to get a few back as Lyla Hurley and Bri Carrasquillo would each end the game with two goals.

Both teams entered Sunday’s game hungry as they were both coming off losses. Oregon fell 20-6 to Ohio State in its conference opener on Wednesday and was looking to get back on the right track. Gabby Santucci was the ray of light in Wednesday’s game for the Ducks, as she was able to launch four past…

Ducks take series against Minnesota in a rainy 4-2 victory

On a rainy, frigid and windy Saturday afternoon at PK Park, the Oregon Ducks (17-3, 5-0 Big Ten) were up 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth against the Minnesota Golden Gophers (7-10, 1-4 Big Ten).

Despite the defensive dominance from Oregon, the Gophers had the tying run at the plate and a runner on first. Sophomore right-handed reliever Ryan Featherston was on the hill for the Ducks with only one out.

Featherston got ahead in the count 0-2, but Minnesota senior third baseman Jake Perry worked back in to make it 2-2. On the next pitch, Perry rolled over to second. It was an ideal double play ball for sophomore Ryan Cooney, but Gophers junior first baseman Jake Elbeery barreled into Cooney in an attempt to break up the play. Cooney stayed resilient, though, as he made the tag, bounced off of Elbeery and fired it over to first to complete the double play and cap off a 4-2 Ducks win and series win.

Cooney had an error in a similar situation in the third inning,…
