Weather delay lets Oregon baseball reset for win over Nebraska
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon has been highly praised for its ability to keep its win streak alive throughout several points during the regular season, and the Ducks hoped to establish another win streak with their series against No. 19 Nebraska (26-8, 11-2) on Friday. But the real question was, could they do it? Especially with the predicted forecast being nothing but rain and gloomy clouds, a seemingly foreboding sign.
No. 21 Oregon (25-9, 9-4) faced back-to-back losses last week against Michigan and Portland. It was vital for the Ducks to start this series off with a win, as it could potentially keep Oregon in the top five for best starts through 36 games after having their nine-game win streak broken back in February.
The Ducks weren’t the only ones wanting to start off the weekend with a bang. The Cornhuskers also wanted to break their losing streak, albeit only one game. Getting a win in the first game of the weekend sets the mood for the rest of the series,…

EUGENE, Ore. — With an early Friday start to avoid the rain, it was a sunny day at PK Park as No. 21 Oregon baseball opened a three-game series against No. 18 Nebraska. The Ducks entered the matchup looking to bounce back after a 13-9 loss to Portland earlier in the week. After a weather delay, the Ducks defeated the Cornhuskers 7-6.
Will Sanford got the start on the mound but ran into trouble early, allowing a leadoff double to Mac Moyer, who later came around to score and give Nebraska a 1-0 lead. Oregon was unable to respond in the bottom of the first.
“My job is to set the tone, and even through adversity, I want to keep competing the way I did,” said Sanford.
Nebraska threatened again in the second, opening the inning with a single and a walk. Sanford settled in, however, striking out the final two batters of the inning to escape further damage.
In the bottom half, Oregon showed patience at the plate with back-to-back walks, prompting a quick mound…

EUGENE, Ore. — On Easter Sunday, the No. 18 Oregon Ducks softball team took on the Iowa Hawkeyes in the final game of the series, looking to complete the sweep after winning the first two matchups. Oregon entered the game with momentum following a close Saturday contest that ended in extra innings on a walk-off by Emma Cox. The Ducks capped off the weekend with a 6-2 victory to secure the series sweep.
After a quick top of the first inning, Oregon struck early once again when Kaylynn Jones reached scoring position with a triple and later came home on a sacrifice fly by Amari Harper, giving the Ducks a 1-0 lead.
Oregon’s defense remained strong through the opening innings, holding Iowa scoreless. Starting pitcher Lyndsey Grein allowed just one hit through the first three innings and retired every other batter she faced. The Ducks attempted to generate more offense, but unlike the previous game, they were unable to capitalize, as Iowa pitcher Carly Brewer needed just four…

EUGENE, Ore. — Under sunny skies to start the weekend, the No. 18 Oregon Ducks softball team took on the Iowa Hawkeyes in game two of a three-game series after defeating Iowa 10-1 in six innings on Friday. Oregon entered the day 7-2 in conference play and improved to 8-2 after a dramatic 14-13 extra-inning win to secure the series.
Freshman starting pitcher Maddie Milhorn opened the game strong, striking out the first batter and helping Oregon to a quick 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts.
Elon Butler reached base to begin the bottom half, and after a sacrifice bunt from Amari Harper moved runners into scoring position, Emma Cox delivered with a single to bring in two runs and give Oregon an early lead.
Iowa responded quickly, as Leah McAnally led off the inning with a home run to left field. Milhorn regrouped, striking out two more batters to limit further damage.
Oregon continued its aggressive approach at the plate in the second inning. Stefini Ma’ake…

On Tuesday, Oregon football hosted its annual Pro Day, where 15 Ducks worked out in front of scouts representing 31 NFL teams.
“Reflecting on the decision to come here,” guard Emmanuel Pregnon said. “I believe it was honestly one of the greatest decisions I’ve made in my life.”
The Oregon Ducks football program will put forth 18 draft-eligible players from their 2025 campaign. Of those 18 players, 13 transferred into the program. All three players who sat out represented transfers with safety Dillon Thieneman and left tackle Isaiah World coming from Purdue and Nevada in 2025, and running back Noah Whittington from Western Kentucky in 2022.
After his strong performance at the NFL combine, Thieneman did not test. Whittington and World both nursed injuries and did not participate.
Head coach Dan Lanning has brought in 67 transfers across his first five recruiting cycles at Oregon. The program has seen 115 players transfer out, but proudly boasts that they have…

EUGENE, Ore. — The three-month gap between the final whistle being blown on the college football season and the melodic tune of the first pick of the NFL Draft seems like a football dead zone for the common fan. Attention turns to basketball, then baseball and the offseason chatter gets put on the back burner.
For the players, it’s three months of preparing for their opportunity at what could be the next decade of their life, or more. They train their skills and physiques in ways that don’t even look football-related in preparation for the NFL Combine and Pro Day. Sometimes their grind looks like more of what a track-and-field athlete would do.
With the combine checked off two weeks ago, it was time for Pro Day at the Moshofsky Center for the University of Oregon football team’s players.
Events started off with some special teams work as kickers Atticus Sappington and Andrew Boyle got a chance to rip some mid-range field goals, then opportunities to bomb some…

Over the past few years, even without a national championship, the University of Oregon football program has built a reputation as one of college football's most reliable pipelines to the NFL. From quarterbacks like Justin Herbert and Marcus Mariota to recent defensive talent like Christian Gonzalez, the Ducks have consistently sent players to the professional level. Much of that success has stemmed from strong recruiting, development, and a program that focuses on preparing players for the next level.
Recent numbers show how productive Oregon has been in producing NFL players. In the 2025 draft alone, the Ducks set a program record of 10 players selected, continuing the streak of at least six players drafted in the last three years. The program also produced two first-round picks, defensive lineman Derrick Harmon and offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. Historically, Oregon has had over 250 players selected in the NFL draft, including 25 first-round picks, which has…

EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 2 Oregon Ducks (4-1) acrobatics and tumbling team trailed the No. 4 Iona Gaels (2-2) in the meet total after the acro, pyramid, and toss events, but outscored the Gaels by almost five points in the tumbling event, leading to a 268.105-265.210 win.
It was the first time this season the Ducks trailed for multiple events against an opponent that wasn’t No.1 Baylor. Facing a 1.900 meet total deficit entering the tumbling event, the Ducks knew they needed their strongest event to come through for them, as it has all season.
“I’m so happy with how they executed and really turned around because being one-plus difference down going into [tumbling event] can be a little stressful,” Oregon head coach Taylor Susnara said following the meet. “I think that everyone did a really good job boosting each other up. And some of the freshmen there, like [Nya Womack] and [Nyla Lassiter], just really stepped up.”
The Ducks started the meet sharp in the…

EUGENE, Ore. — The afternoon for the Oregon Ducks did not get off to the right start, plain and simple. An unexpected scratch, a slow start offensively, and an early deficit to overcome.
A late scratch is never ideal, as sophomore right-hander Cal Scolari had to miss his start with an illness, forcing head coach Mark Wasikowski to turn to a young arm in his absence.
Freshman right-hander Josh Hollis got the nod but was quickly chased after 1⅓ innings. Oregon found itself down 6-1 at the end of the third inning. The score stood all the way to the sixth inning.
Wasikowski rallied his guys, and that’s when it happened. The offense broke out.
A four-run sixth headlined by a three-run bases-clearing double by second baseman Ryan Cooney was the setup for freshman right fielder Angel Laya to walk it off in the ninth with a single to right, leading the Oregon Ducks (17–3, 5–1 Big Ten) to a 7-6 win, and series sweep of the Indiana Hoosiers (7–12, 1–5 Big…

EUGENE, Ore. — On Sunday, the Oregon Ducks took on the Penn State Nittany Lions on a cloudy day at Jane Sanders Stadium. The Ducks were rocking the white and pink uniforms to honor breast cancer awareness in Game 3 of the series.
After also taking the first two games of the weekend, the first Big Ten series of the season for the Ducks was completed in a 3-0 sweep against the Nittany Lions, as they took them down 6-5 in the final game.
Elise Sokolsky got the start in the circle for the Ducks and struck out two of the first four Penn State batters in the top of the first.
The Ducks had some fielding errors through the first few innings that allowed a couple baserunners, but were able to only allow just that and escape scoreless.
“I think it’s about having each other's backs. If something doesn’t go our way, it’s the next person doing the next right thing,” head coach Melyssa Lombardi said after addressing the mistakes on defense. “This is a really good…
