An Electric 5-3 Oregon Win Secures Sweep in Cascade Clash Rivalry
It was senior night on Sunday at PK Park as the No. 5-ranked Oregon Ducks (38-13, 19-8 Big Ten) took on the unranked Washington Huskies (27-25, 15-12 Big Ten) for the final regular-season home game for the Ducks. This was also the series finale of the Cascade Clash as Oregon looked to sweep the bitter rival Huskies to make it 7-0 against the main rivals, Oregon State and Washington.
At the top of the eighth, the Ducks were up 5-2, but were in an uncomfortable position as the bases were loaded with one out. Senior right-handed reliever Jaxon Jordan was on the bump in a crucial spot. Jordan secured the second out with a flyout, then was caught in a long at-bat and a full count to junior left fielder Cooper Whitton. On the sixth pitch, Jordan struck out Whitton swinging, sending fire into the PK Park crowd as Jordan pumped his fist with energy. Washington would threaten again in the ninth, but the Ducks would hold on to get the 5-3 win.

The Cascade Clash is in full swing for the No. 5-ranked Oregon Ducks (36-13, 17-8 Big Ten). As the powerful offense continues to stay hot, securing school records, the weekend spotlight comes from the Ducks’ bullpen. The Oregon pitchers look to keep the momentum going as they’ve played host to longtime rival Washington Huskies (27-23, 15-10 Big Ten).
The team’s expectations have soared to new heights with the recent explosion from the Ducks’ bullpen. If Oregon can keep its rise on an upward trajectory, it could see itself have a deep run in the postseason. Up to this point, Oregon’s bullpen has been the team’s biggest weakness, causing the offensive firepower to spend most of the season overcoming the lackluster pitching.
Coach Mark Wasikowski credited the late-season success to the maturity of bullpen Coach Blake Hawksworth.
“He had a lot of great ideas, I think you’re seeing that,” Wasikowski said. “But ultimately, regardless of usage, they weren’t…

The No. 5-ranked Oregon Ducks (36-13, 17-8 Big Ten) had an opportunity to take the series against the unranked rival Washington Huskies (27-23, 15-10 Big Ten) in the Saturday Game 2 matchup.
At the bottom of the fifth, senior first baseman Jacob Walsh was up to bat with the score knotted at four. Walsh took a strike to make the count 1-1, then stepped up like a true veteran and blistered the next pitch over the right-center field wall and into the PK Park parking lot. The ball bounced off the roof of a car as Walsh watched it fly and pointed at his dugout. This gave Oregon a 5-4 lead that it would never give up as it grabbed a 6-4 win.
Leading the charge for the Ducks offense was junior center fielder Mason Neville, who was 2-for-5 with a double, a homer and three RBIs.
The Ducks entered this one coming off a 5-0 shutout win on Friday against the same Washington crew. In that game, junior left-handed starter Grayson Grinsell pitched an incredible seven scoreless…

The No. 5-ranked Oregon Ducks (36-13, 17-8 Big Ten) had the Cascade Clash in front of them on Friday as they took on the unranked Washington Huskies (27-23, 15-10 Big Ten) for the first of a three-game set.
At the bottom of the seventh, the Ducks were in control up 4-0, but had gone six straight frames of zeroes. After junior designated hitter Mason Neville flew out to center, senior right fielder Jeffrey Heard pinch hit for senior right fielder Parker Stinson. Heard fell behind in the count 1-2, then fouled off a pitch to stay alive. On the next pitch, Heard slaughtered the ball deep to right field and into the Oregon bullpen. This made it a 5-0 Ducks lead, a score that would end up being the final.
Leading the charge for the Oregon offense was junior left fielder Anson Aroz, who was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
“We got a hungry group that’s looking to do more than just win games,” Aroz said. “We want to be a championship team. Obviously, the National Championship being…

When the Cincinnati Reds selected Mason Neville in the 18th round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft, Neville knew he could be better. He bet on himself and took an offer from Arkansas.
“I just knew I had a good opportunity to go to college and develop that way,” Neville said following Wednesday’s game in which he walked three times and scored twice. “Everybody has their own path.”
But after seeing limited playing time as a freshman, Neville continued on his own path and wound up at Oregon, where he got more playing time in his sophomore year. He hit .269 with a 1.033 OPS and mashed 16 home runs while splitting his time between all three outfield spots.
But this year, he’s been otherworldly as a junior. He’s running away with the NCAA home run title and has raised his batting average sixty points. He’s found a home in center field and has started there all but two of the Ducks’ games this year, playing stellar defense. He’s one of the front-runners for…

The No. 5-ranked Oregon Ducks (35-13, 16-8 Big Ten) delivered on the midweek two-game sweep against the unranked Saint Mary’s Gaels (26-22, 10-8 WCC) with an 8-1 comfortable victory on Wednesday.
At the bottom of the ninth, freshman right-handed reliever Tanner Bradley had the reins on the mound to close out the game. Despite this being Bradley’s second appearance of the season, he instantly went into cruise control as he popped up the first batter of the inning on one pitch. He sat down the next with a strikeout, and the fans at PK Park could feel it as their Ducks were three strikes away from eight wins in their last nine games. Bradley got ahead 0-2, stayed strong after the batter fought off a pitch foul, then felt the breeze as freshman pinch hitter Makoa Sniffen whiffed on the pitch to end the game.
“The development is occurring at a pretty high level, and you’re seeing that,” Oregon head coach Mark Wasikowski said. “The pitches that Tanner was making and…

Ducks Use the Long Ball to Take Down Saint Mary’s 6-3 in Game 1 of the Non-Conference Battle
The sun was out at PK Park on Tuesday as the No. 5-ranked Oregon Ducks (34-13, 16-8 Big Ten) took on the unranked Saint Mary’s Gaels (26-21, 10-8 WCC) for the first of a two-game midweek set.
At the bottom of the first, Oregon found itself in an early hole down 2-0 after the Gaels came out swinging in the frame before. Flashbacks to midweek struggles from earlier in the season ran through the minds of the Ducks faithful, but those thoughts would be put to bed quickly. Freshman catcher Coen Niclai ripped a double down the left field line, then advanced to third off a groundout from senior first baseman Jacob Walsh. Junior center fielder Drew Smith then walked to put runners on the corners, and they all would come around after junior left fielder Anson Aroz slapped one just deep enough to soar over the wall and immediately put Oregon ahead 3-2. It was a lead the Ducks would never relinquish as they grabbed the 6-3 win.
That makes it three straight games where Aroz has…

In their first year of Big Ten Conference play, No. 3 Oregon softball (47-6, 19-3 Big Ten) proved outright that it can handle the competition.
How did the Ducks do it?
To start out the season, Oregon went on a five-game win streak at the UNLV Classic, beating every opponent by a margin of at least four runs every game. This set the tone for the season, starting out with much-needed momentum.
The first challenge came at the Littlewood Classic, when Oregon fell to former Pac-12 rival, Arizona State, in an extra-inning battle ultimately ending in a 4-3 loss.
The problem came at the plate, as the Sun Devils would not allow the Ducks to hit after the fourth inning.
Something shifted for the Ducks after this and the team would go on a 16-game win streak. But all good things must come to an end.
After going undefeated in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic and Oregon Classic Torunaments, the second loss of the season was a huge blow by another…

The Senior Day ceremony started before the game even began, with the ceremonial first pitch, or more accurately, first six pitches, coming from family members of the graduating seniors, Staci Chambers, Abby Mulvey, Paige Sinicki, Kai and Kedre Luschar, and Dezianna Patmon. Then, the action really got started, with a game defined by home runs.
The Lion’s Den was packed with fans and action as the No. 3 Oregon Ducks (47-6, 19-3 Big Ten) finished off the regular season against the Michigan State Spartans (16-29, 6-16 Big Ten) with a win, knocking them off by a score of 7-6 and taking the series in the rubber match.
Oregon starting pitcher Lyndsey Grein (2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 4 K, 1 BB) started off firing on all cylinders with two strikeouts to begin the game in the top of the first inning.
Michigan State starting pitcher Madison Taylor (2 1/3 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 3 K, 4 BB) walked Kai Luschar to start the rubber match. Then, Luschar stole second to make it 52 on the season and…
