Oregon falls to Oregon State for the first time since 2024
EUGENE, Ore. — After winning the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic, the (10-2) Oregon Ducks flocked home to face in-state rival the 18th-ranked Oregon State Beavers at (7-4) on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The Beavers took the win 10-6 in the first of three midweek battles between the two rivals this season. It was Oregon State’s first win against the Ducks after dropping six straight since April 27, 2024. Tuesday’s matchup was a gloomy, grey day with a packed PK Park as rival fans across I-5 filled the ballpark.
“Sloppy game. It’s better to win a sloppy game than to lose one,” head coach Mark Wasikowski said. “We walked or hit 11 people in nine innings…We were worse than they were off the mound."
After a first-inning lead-off single, junior Ryan Cooney continued his streak, hitting in every game so far this season for the Ducks. Cooney, a leader on this team, continues to show his irreplaceable value as the lead-off hitter. The Ducks forced 11 pick-off…

EUGENE, Ore. – No. 20 Oregon took the field at Jane Sanders Stadium on Sunday for its final game of the Oregon Classic against Samford. Early adversity was the story for both the Ducks and the Samford Bulldogs on this first day of March. After a weekend of unpredictable weather, Sunday’s first pitch was threatened with a delay by constant Eugene rain throughout the early morning. But when the tarp finally came off, both schools were adamant about getting this all-important matchup started. Oregon coach Melyssa Lombardi especially pushed for this game to get going.
“I really wanted to figure out for us to play,” she stated. “Because this is going to show up later in the year as well, and we’re going to handle it, because we handled it well today.”
Inning number one was a long one for the second game of the day after Stetson and Idaho State wrapped up their tournaments on Sunday morning. The diamond was starting to show the amount of wear and tear a three-day tournament…

Game 1: Oregon 4, Stetson 1
Junior Taylour Spencer stepped into the circle for the Ducks in the first inning, making her first appearance at The Jane this season. After recording two quick outs and appearing ready to end the inning, Nicole Edmiaston launched a home run to right field, putting the first run on the board as her teammates crowded the plate to celebrate.
“We’re going to lose balls over the fence. I don’t want to lose them, but we're going to, but I’ll take a solo bomb any day,” head coach…

EUGENE, Ore. — Another wet and gloomy Sunday afternoon at Pape Field saw Oregon women’s lacrosse and Eastern Michigan women’s lacrosse face off in a Big Ten versus MAC late February showdown.
Both teams came into this game having lost their last one. Oregon hosted ACC and former Pac-12 opponent Cal on Thursday but fell short 14-9. In Eastern Michigan’s previous game, the Eagles travelled east to Buffalo, New York, for a matchup with Canisius University, a matchup they would lose 19-12.
An action-packed first quarter saw eight goals go in between both offenses. Eastern Michigan’s Roya Khaleeli opened the scoring for the day with a great solo run and quick shot to put the Eagles ahead, but three goals in three minutes from two juniors, Gabby Santucci and Lyla Hurley, gave the Ducks a 3-1 lead.
Santucci was undoubtedly a force for the Ducks in the first quarter. She entered this game with six goals and one assist in her four games played so far this season. She added…

EUGENE, Ore. — On a rainy Sunday, the Oregon Ducks baseball team was ready to take the series win against the Youngstown State Penguins as they reached their final game of the four-game series. The Ducks had beaten the Penguins 18-1 in the first game and shut them out in the previous two, hoping to do the same in the finale. The Ducks prevailed and won the game 14-5 and all four games in the series to shut the Penguins out.
The top of the first began with the Penguins’ leadoff batter, Alex Jang, getting hit by a pitch, but catcher Brayden Jaksa recovered by throwing to Maddox Molony to catch Jang attempting to steal second. Starting pitcher Cal Scolari walked the next batter but then picked him off at first in a controversial call that was challenged and confirmed. A strikeout ended Youngstown State’s half of the inning with no hits or runs.
Oregon secured an early lead. Gabe Miranda, who hit his first home run as a Duck in their previous game against the…

What started as a rather gloomy day in Springfield, Ore., turned sunny as the Bushnell Beacons continued their series against the Warner Pacific Knights, which began on Friday, the 20th. Now back for another doubleheader on Saturday, the 21st, the Beacons had an incredible first game; they took the win 21-1. They added a phenomenal second game, winning 16-3 to take the series.
The first game of this doubleheader started with a bang, getting a homer from Dylan Carson, enabling Nate Stevens to score, ending the first inning with the Beacons leading the game 2-0. The Beacons put pressure on the Knights going into the second inning, not even letting the Knights get on first.
It was a massive third inning for both teams. The Knights did not let the Beacons keep them down for long, starting the third inning with a homer to left field from Trenten Lowe, going a whopping 430 feet. But then Carson hit another homer with the bases loaded, his second of the game, with…

EUGENE, Ore. — Fans filled PK Park as the Oregon Ducks baseball team played their third game of the series against the Youngstown State Penguins. The Ducks had won both of the first games, beating the Penguins 18-1 in Game 1 and shutting them out 3-0 in the last meeting after an aggressive defensive effort from both teams. The Ducks were prepared for another strong defense from Youngstown State as the Penguins’ starting pitcher, Jack Messmore, was one of the pitchers who fought well against Auburn the previous weekend. The Ducks persevered and beat the Penguins 7-0.
The Ducks showed their hunger for the win early. Starting pitcher Collin Clarke struck out two batters in the top of the first, and Angel Laya robbed Misael Uriepero of a home run with an incredible catch at the fence to end the frame.
“I think he brought one back in the first inning,” head coach Mark Wasikowski said of Laya. “You know that was a really well-hit and a great defensive play by the…

EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon Ducks baseball team returned to face the Youngstown State Penguins for Game 2 of the four-game series after dominating the opener, 18-1, with home runs from Maddox Molony and Josh Schleichardt. Hoping for a similar outcome the second time around, Oregon prepared for a tougher defense, as Penguins starting pitcher Braden Gebhardt had recorded 11 strikeouts against Auburn from the previous weekend. After the first game, head coach Mark Wasikowski addressed the upcoming matchup.
“I know the guy they’re starting was the guy that really held down Auburn,” Wasikowski said. “I know he’s going to be a really stiff test for us.””
Despite a tougher defense, the Ducks secured the win 3-0.
The first inning moved quickly. Unlike the series opener, when Oregon scored four runs in the first, both teams were held scoreless after a flyout and a double play.
Defense dominated early. Will Sanford recorded five strikeouts through the first…

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. — Lions’ guard Cade May finished with two points before subbing out for the final time at home in a Cottage Grove uniform.
It was senior night, and May got the start despite suffering a torn ACL a little more than a week ago. The injury ended his season, but it was only right for the 3-point specialist to suit up and see the last minute of his high school career in front of the home crowd he’s so used to taking the court in front of.
“He’s an amazing kid,” Cottage Grove assistant coach Nick Garman said. “We were all very emotional watching him get that last opportunity as a high school player.”
The two teams exchanged baskets before May left the court. He was serenaded with applause and cheers as he made his way to the bench, receiving handshakes and much love from both coaches and players.
“It was great,” May said. “I miss it already, but it was great. I miss playing out there, and you know, tearing [ACL] is rough. But I have lots of people…
