The No. 16 Oregon Ducks Walkoff Stanford 10-7 To Advance To The NCAA Super Regionals
Comeback complete. With the crowd on their feet and roaring from the fifth inning onwards at the Lion's Den, Version 7 did what many thought was not possible entering Sunday: beating an incredibly strong and talented Stanford team, not just once, but twice in a row to advance in a stunner.
“Our fans were amazing,” Oregon head coach Melyssa Lombardi said. “Our fans have been amazing all year long.”
After a thrilling victory to force the Eugene Regional tiebreaker, the No. 16 Oregon Ducks (51-8, 19-3 Big Ten) faced off against the Stanford Cardinal (42-13, 16-8 ACC) once again, but this time with higher stakes. One team would advance to the NCAA Super Regionals, and one team’s season would come to a close. The Ducks needed to win twice on Sunday to keep their season alive, and after a run-rule victory earlier in the day, Oregon won the tiebreaker in walkoff style, 10-7 against Stanford to advance in the tournament.

The Lion’s Den was roaring on Sunday afternoon as Rylee McCoy tied the Oregon single-season record for home runs in the second inning. The Ducks never looked back as they kept their season alive.
In front of a packed crowd at Jane Sanders Stadium with a berth to the NCAA Super Regionals and a regional championship on the line, the No. 16 Oregon Ducks (50-8, 19-3 Big Ten) faced off against the all too familiar Stanford Cardinal (42-12, 16-8 ACC) in the opening game of the Eugene Regional championship. The Ducks got revenge with a 15-5 run-rule victory over Stanford in six innings, to keep their season alive and force a tiebreaker game.
Stanford starting pitcher Kylie Chung (2 1/3 IP, 6 H, 9 ER, 1 K, 8 BB) started the game by hitting leadoff hitter Kai Luschar with her pitch in the top of the first inning. Luschar proceeded to steal second and third bases. Freshmen McCoy and Stefini Ma’ake were walked back-to-back to load the bases with one out. Paige Sinicki became the…

As the sun set on Jane Sanders Stadium, the stars lit up the field, and both teams fought to keep their seasons alive in the Eugene Regional elimination game. In a rematch of the opening game of the Eugene Regional, the No. 16 Oregon Ducks (49-8, 19-3 Big Ten) looked to rebound, after a disastrous game versus Stanford earlier in the day, against the Weber State Wildcats (29-32, 8-7 Big Sky) with elimination on the line. Oregon came into the game with something to prove and its season on the line, and took care of business 9-1 over the Wildcats.
“I love how we answered back,” Oregon head coach Melyssa Lombardi said. “First game was a tough game, but to reset and get after it and answer the second game… it's about continuing the fight.”
Weber State starting pitcher RJ Parra (1 1/3 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 0 K, 2 BB) started the game by walking Kai Luschar and Rylee McCoy. Kedre Luschar singled into left field and brought her sister home to take the early 1-0 lead. Oregon left the…

It was a case of the struggles for the home team. Even as the rain fell from the sky and the wind blew, the Ducks could not find any momentum in the opening game of Day 2 of the Eugene Regional at Jane Sanders Stadium. The matchup between two former conference opponents who met in the NCAA tournament for the first time, saw the No. 16 Oregon Ducks (48-8, 19-3 Big Ten) face off against the Stanford Cardinal (42-11, 16-8 ACC) in the 1-0 game of the regional. Stanford took it in dominant fashion, 14-1 in six innings.
Oregon starting pitcher Elise Sokolsky (2 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 K, 0 BB) had to quickly adjust to the Stanford offense. Taryn Kern tripled as the first batter faced, and came home off a single from Emily Jones, to put the Cardinal in front 1-0 early at the top of the first inning. Oregon’s defense came into action after the run, getting three quick outs to prevent any further damage.
Stanford starting pitcher Kylie Chung (2/3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 K, 1 BB) struggled in…

The NCAA logo plastered on the walls of Jane Sanders Stadium can only mean one thing: it’s time for postseason softball. The Oregon community knows how to throw a homecoming party for their favorite Duck alumni. On Monday, it was Nyara Sabally and Sabrina Ionescu who the fans welcomed back to Eugene.
The second and last preseason game for the New York Liberty was chosen to be held at Matthew Knight Arena, the place that helped make not only Ionescu who she is, but the program that Ionescu helped make what it is. The welcome back was special, ending in an 84-61 victory for the Liberty.
“I was kind of surprised,” Ionescu said. “I knew people would show up, that's just what Ducks do is they continue to believe and support you throughout your career. I just had no idea that this would be a sell-out crowd…I got emotional when I just started looking around the arena and saw every single seat taken. This is something in my career that I'll never forget, being able to come back and play a game at the University of Oregon.”

More Than Just a Game: Fans React to Sabrina Ionescu’s Return to Eugene
Oregon women's basketball legend Sabrina Ionescu returned to Matthew Knight Arena, and fans were ecstatic to welcome the “Queen of Eugene” back to town.
In front of a sellout crowd of 12,364 fans, the New York Liberty defeated the Toyota Antelopes of the Women’s Japan Basketball League 84-61 in their final exhibition game before regular season play.
“It's something I've always dreamed about,” Ionescu said. “Just to be able to take the court one more time, obviously never thought that it’s something I’d be able to do…and just continue to make an impact on this community.”
Fans filled the arena wearing Ionescu’s USA, New York Liberty and Oregon jerseys, showing their support for every phase of her basketball career. Among the sea of jerseys and homemade signs, many reflected on how Ionescu continues to inspire the next generation both on and off the court.
“I think she's a great role model for a lot of the young boys and girls in town. She’s someone that kinda…

Just over 11 months ago, Blue Bell Park in College Station, Texas, was the scene for a dramatic Super Regional rubber match between the Oregon Ducks and Texas A&M Aggies. The winner would head to the College World Series in Omaha, and the loser would head home empty-handed. After dropping a run to the Aggies in the top of the first, Oregon’s star catcher and third-place hitter, Chase Meggers, stepped up with Dominic Hellman on first. It was then that Meggers launched a belt-high, first-pitch fastball deep into the right field bleachers off of Aggies’ lefthander Shane Sdao.
The Ducks went on to lose that game 15-9 after a heartbreaking nine-run seventh, but it was Meggers’ big swing that lifted them to their hot start and 8-4 six-inning lead.
This was not an unfamiliar sight for the Ducks last year; the sophomore backstop anchored Oregon’s offense all season, carrying a team-leading .316 batting average, an .875 OPS, and 33 RBIs, both good for third on the team. The…

It was senior night on Sunday at PK Park as the No. 5-ranked Oregon Ducks (38-13, 19-8 Big Ten) took on the unranked Washington Huskies (27-25, 15-12 Big Ten) for the final regular-season home game for the Ducks. This was also the series finale of the Cascade Clash as Oregon looked to sweep the bitter rival Huskies to make it 7-0 against the main rivals, Oregon State and Washington.
At the top of the eighth, the Ducks were up 5-2, but were in an uncomfortable position as the bases were loaded with one out. Senior right-handed reliever Jaxon Jordan was on the bump in a crucial spot. Jordan secured the second out with a flyout, then was caught in a long at-bat and a full count to junior left fielder Cooper Whitton. On the sixth pitch, Jordan struck out Whitton swinging, sending fire into the PK Park crowd as Jordan pumped his fist with energy. Washington would threaten again in the ninth, but the Ducks would hold on to get the 5-3 win.

The Cascade Clash is in full swing for the No. 5-ranked Oregon Ducks (36-13, 17-8 Big Ten). As the powerful offense continues to stay hot, securing school records, the weekend spotlight comes from the Ducks’ bullpen. The Oregon pitchers look to keep the momentum going as they’ve played host to longtime rival Washington Huskies (27-23, 15-10 Big Ten).
The team’s expectations have soared to new heights with the recent explosion from the Ducks’ bullpen. If Oregon can keep its rise on an upward trajectory, it could see itself have a deep run in the postseason. Up to this point, Oregon’s bullpen has been the team’s biggest weakness, causing the offensive firepower to spend most of the season overcoming the lackluster pitching.
Coach Mark Wasikowski credited the late-season success to the maturity of bullpen Coach Blake Hawksworth.
“He had a lot of great ideas, I think you’re seeing that,” Wasikowski said. “But ultimately, regardless of usage, they weren’t…
