PREVIEW: Oregon Softball Goes to Arkansas for the NCAA Tournament
By Levi Bergthold
#23 Oregon will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, as the #2 seed for its Regional matchup, in a grouping featuring #4 Arkansas, Wichita State and Princeton. This is the Ducks 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance; they will open Regional play against the #3 seed Wichita State Friday, at 5:30 p.m. PT (ESPN+). Oregon finished its season on a high note, going 5-1 to close out the regular season, in stark contrast to the brutal 2-11 stretch before that. Facing the nation’s second toughest schedule, the Ducks went 10-14 in conference play (31-17 overall), good for 5th in the PAC-12.
The Ducks pitching staff came to life to close out the regular season. After unexpectedly losing ace LHP Brooke Yanez before the season, the starting rotation was thrown into flux, and Freshman RHP Stevie Hansen was forced into the workhorse role, with RHP Makenna Kliethermes as the alternate starter. Both struggled with inconsistency but were…

Eugene, Ore. – After going through their worst stretch of the season in losing six straight games, the Ducks (32-21) have righted the ship a bit as they have won four of their last five. The last win for Oregon came on Tuesday in what was a huge walk off victory against the then No. 11 Gonzaga Bulldogs. That walk off was courtesy of Jacob Walsh (Freshman), who ripped a line drive down the right-field line and brought in Sam Novitske (Junior) from second base and pinch-runner William Riley (Senior) all the way from first. Now looking ahead for Oregon, they will close out the regular season this weekend at home for a three-game series against the Arizona Wildcats (35-18). This Arizona team is a ball club that has had a strong season with eyes on a postseason run. The Wildcats have won four of their last five series, including taking two out of three from Oregon State (40-11) last weekend.

Walsh Walkoff Leads Ducks to 5-4 Comeback Victory of #10 Gonzaga
By Liam Baker
In their final midweek game of the season, the Oregon Ducks (32-21) beat the #10 Gonzaga Bulldogs (32-14) 5-4. The win gave the Ducks a season sweep over the Bulldogs. Oregon won the first matchup in Spokane on March 22 by a score of 9-5.
After a scoreless top of the first by Christian Ciuffetelli, the Ducks' offense got off to a hot start in the bottom of the inning. Tanner Smith led off with a single to the pitcher Bradley Mullan. With two outs, Drew Cowley's infield single put runners at the corners. With Josh Kasevich at the plate, Tanner Smith scored on a balk after trying to steal home to make it 1-0. Kasevich followed with a two-run home run off the top of the center-field fence to give the Ducks a 3-0 lead.
The Bulldogs answered back in the top of the second. With Stone Churby on the mound, Dylan Johnson followed a Connor Coballes walk with a double to put runners on second and third. Shea Kramer brought Johnson home with a…

Oregon (31-21) comes off a 15-5 road rout of Arizona State that saw them break their school record for runs scored in a season with 391 with four games still to go. Their remaining four regular season games will be back at PK Park, starting with Tuesday’s date with No. 11 Gonzaga (32-13) at 6 p.m.
The Ducks were able to steal a road win over the Zags back on March 22, in which the deciding factors were an early-inning offensive surge and solid bullpen play to prevent a comeback. Oregon’s record was only half a game behind Gonzaga’s following that win, but they have slipped behind them considerably since then.
Oregon’s offense has been one of the country’s most explosive this season with nearly three times as many home runs as Gonzaga, but their bats will be put to the test against an elite defense that ranks 28th nationally in team ERA and 12th in strikeouts per 9 innings.
Bulldogs catcher Tyler Rando, who…
