Oregon Women’s Basketball Faces Off Against the #7 Utah Utes

Written by Maddie Lang

The Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball team takes on the University of Utah Utes this Sunday afternoon. The Ducks are coming back from a loss Friday night against the University of Colorado Buffaloes. Oregon is currently sitting at number eight in the PAC-12 while the Utes are number two in the conference and number seven in the nation. This will be the first and only regular season matchup for these two teams.

Oregon’s Offense

Oregon has lost five of its last seven games. Their most recent loss against the Buffalo was their lowest scoring game all season with just 53 points. The Ducks were unfortunate enough to go the whole game without a three-point basket. Oregon is going up against one of the top teams in the nation, and a performance like this won’t pull off the win. They will need players like Endiya Rogers and Te-Hina Paopao to step up and put up some big numbers in order to upset…

Men's Basketball Preview: Oregon vs Arizona State (2-4-23)

Written By: Griffin Bowes

THE OREGON DUCKS might be peaking at the right time. Despite losing the rematch with Arizona on Thursday, they have won 4 of their last 6 games. Two of those wins were by at least 15 points, with one of them being a 19-point domination of the aforementioned Wildcats. In their most recent win against Utah, the Ducks had a dominating defensive performance that resulted in a 68-56 win. They had 8 blocks to Utah’s one, and 30 defensive rebounds to the Utes’ 19. Oregon was also dominant in the paint, scoring 32 of their 68 points in that region.

HOWEVER, the question of whether or not they can sustain their recent success is one that must be asked, as the Ducks have been an up-and-down team for much of the season. Oregon has a handful of solid wins, but they have also suffered embarrassing losses, including the early-season blunder vs UC Irvine and the 27-point road loss to Colorado. This team has…

Oregon returns home to play Colorado in must-win PAC-12 showdown

By: Ian Sutliff

Eugene, OR-- For the first time in nearly three weeks, the Oregon Ducks (14-7, 5-5) will play in Matthew Knight arena where they’ll take on the Colorado Buffaloes (16-5, 6-4). Currently both teams are projected as seven seeds for the NCAA tournament, meaning a resume win here for either team could easily bump both these squads up as we head into March.

Oregon:

The Ducks have been up and down the last few weeks as they’ve gone just 2-3 since their road trip to the Arizona schools. Now with two of the best teams in the conference coming into Eugene this weekend, Oregon must at least split this upcoming series if it wants to show any signs of being a real postseason threat. After a road split in northern California, the Ducks will need to shoot a lot better than they did against Stanford after going 25% from the field on Sunday. Grace VanSlooten was one big bright spot after going for 20 points in the loss and she will…

Oregon MBB Preview: Ducks Look to Upset Arizona Once More, This Time in Tuscon

Written by: Jonah Bruneau

Eugene, OR-- The NCAA has entered the infamous crunch time of the season as we embark on the month of February, where the big dance picture starts to become more clear.

As It Stands

In Oregon’s case, this version of crunch time is substantially crucial as at the moment, the Ducks find themselves not in the conversation to claim a tournament berth. Joe Lunardi, the long time popular College Basketball Analyst for ESPN, currently does not even have Oregon in his ‘first four out’ or ‘next four out’ in his well known “Bracketology”. Long story short, the Ducks have an uphill battle. Of course, Oregon being led by coach Dan Altman could potentially run the table in the PAC-12 tournament and earn a spot in the madness of March that way, but how much does a team really want to rely on that? If Oregon wants to be in a position to not have to pull off this difficult feat, it starts with Arizona on Thursday…
