Eugene, OR — Despite 33 points from Endyia Rogers and 22 points from Chance Gray, #21 Oregon (13-5, 4-3) fell to the unranked Washington State Cougars (13-4, 3-3) 85-84 Sunday afternoon at Matthew Knight Arena. It is the Ducks' first loss to Washington State in Eugene since 2015 and the first loss against the Cougars overall since the 2017-18 season.

After a lackluster first quarter in which the Ducks trailed 19-14, Oregon answered with a strong second quarter, outscoring WSU 24-10 at the frame to lead 38-29 at the halftime break. Endyia Rogers then started to catch fire in the second half of the game, scoring all 13 of Oregon's 3rd quarter points to keep the Ducks afloat by one, 51-50 at the third intermission. Washington State star, Charliisse Leger-Walker, who remained quiet through the first three-quarters of basketball, started to heat up in the 4th quarter as well as senior center Bella Murekatete and the…

Oregon Men’s Basketball had the crowd on their feet Saturday night when they took down the ninth ranked Arizona Wildcats. N’Faly Dante opened the game for the Ducks with back-to-back slam dunks. Oregon kept up the momentum and ended the first half with a 43-37 lead over the Wildcats. When the second half came around Oregon only stepped on the gas even more. The Wildcats made their best effort but it wasn’t enough to combat Oregon’s strong force on both ends. Oregon ended their statement performance against the Wildcats 87-68. 

Key to Oregon’s big win was their top notch defense. They were able to hold the Wildcats to just 68 points which is 17.8 points below their season average of 85.8 points per game. They kept Arizona shooting just 38% and 36% from beyond the arc. Coach Dana Altman said he was proud of his team’s defensive performance and turnaround from their disappointing Thursday night loss against Arizona…

With Ducks football now distant in the rearview mirror, basketball becomes the main sports focus on campus, and the Oregon women’s team is putting together a promising season just as students return to Matthew Knight Arena. Ranked 21st in the nation, the Ducks have yet to lose to any opponent outside the top 10. While they sit at sixth in the Pac-12, four out of the Pac-12 top five are ranked nationally within the top 15, including regular powerhouse Stanford and eighth ranked UCLA. Friday is an opportunity for the Ducks to improve their reputation in conference play. Unranked Washington is on a three game skid, are 1-3 in Pac-12 play, and are ahead of only Arizona State (who have yet to win a conference game) in the conference standings. Quite simply, this is the type of game the Ducks need to win if they want to continue their strong start.

Oregon boasts a well rounded scoring attack, with guards Te-Hina Paopao and Endyia Rogers…
