Oregon Women's Basketball's Historic Season Ends in Elite 8
After a season that saw Oregon breakthrough for their first PAC-12 title since 2000 and their highest seeding ever in the NCAA Tournament, the Ducks fell just short of the first Final Four in program history with a 84-74 loss to Notre Dame in the Elite 8 on Monday night. The regions top two seeds dueled in Spokane for the majority of the game, as two of the best offenses in the nation felt each other out for the first half. The difference through the first 20 minutes proved to be Oregon's sophomore stars, as Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard combined for 31 points to lead the Ducks to a 46-40 advantage at the break. Head coach Muffet McGraw and Notre Dame's defense flipped the script in the second, where Oregon's two sophomores shot 3-14 for just 12 points. As a team, the Ducks had one of their worst offensive halves, shooting just 25% from the field as the Irish harassed their shooters all night long. That physicality on the perimeter originated inside, where Notre Dame dominated with… Read More

BSB: Ducks' Bats Quieted as Oregon Can't Complete Sweep of California
Oregon (14-8, 2-4) could not finish off a three-game sweep of California (13-9, 1-5), falling to the Golden Bears 5-3 on Sunday at PK Park in Eugene, Oregon. After tying a season high with 12 hits in both games on Saturday's doubleheader, the Ducks' offense went cold against Cal's Sunday starter Matt Ladrech (2-3), who kept Oregon's bats in check, allowing just one run through five-and-one-third innings on four hits, while striking out six and walking none en route to the victory. Oregon scored two runs in the ninth, but could not push the game to extras. Freshman Kolby Somers (1-2) started for the Ducks and went a career-long five-and-two-thirds innings, but suffered the defeat after allowing five runs (only two of which were earned) on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Oregon hosts San Francisco on Monday for one game before traveling to the Bay Area for a series vs. the Stanford Cardinal.

Oregon Women's Basketball Muscles Past Central Michigan in Sweet 16 Victory
Oregon women's basketball advanced to their second consecutive Elite Eight with a 83-69 victory over No. 11 Central Michigan in Spokane on Saturday afternoon. Much of the responsibility was placed on the back of sophomore Ruthy Hebard, who finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds and was nearly unstoppable all day. Central Michigan came into the Sweet 16 off an upset versus Ohio State that saw them hit 14 threes, but the Chippewas couldn't buy one in the first half, going a dismal 3-14. Oregon's own offense started slow, going 1-5 in the opening minutes, but would finish the first half shooting 50% and holding a 40-25 lead. Central Michigan came out of the halftime break firing, hitting four of their six three point attempts and pulling within single digits several times. But Oregon wouldn't relinquish their lead, always having an answer inside the paint, where they dominated in points 42-24 on the game. The Chippewas couldn't muster enough responses of their own, as the Ducks toyed… Read More
