SB: The Ducks Sweep in Their Second Double-Header of The Oregon Invitational

The Ducks were able to finish strong on Sunday of the Oregon Invitational as they had their last double-header of the weekend. The pitching continued to exert its dominance, as sophomore Miranda Elish pitched 7 innings, recording 11 strikeouts and allowing only 1 hit in the first game versus Montana, backing up her 12 strikeout game in 5 innings pitched the day before against Weber State. In game two, Maggie Balint pitched 3 and 1/3 innings, allowing only 1 run on 1 hit while recording eight strikeouts. She was later replaced by freshman Olivia Kinsey who struck out 3 batters and allowed 1 hit in 1 and 2/3 innings pitched. She also didn't allow a run. Offensively, the Ducks were solid in both games, beating Montana 7-0 and Bryant 17-1. Shannon Rhodes continued to shine at the plate, combining for 5 RBI's while going 4-6 at the plate throughout the two games. The Ducks were also able to get solid at bats and run production from Alexis Mack, Haley Cruse, Shaye Bowden, and Cherish Burks… Read More

After some excellent small ball and well-timed hits by the heart of the Duck lineup, the Ducks tied the game up at 6-6 after five innings of play. The UC Davis Aggies were aggressive at the plate and anxious to put some runs on the board in hopes of preventing a series sweep as they pushed 3 runs in the sixth and ninth inning en route to a 9-7 victory. The Ducks fall to 11-4 on the season, but win the series 3-1. The Ducks host a one game series against Gonzaga on March 13 before heading to Tempe, Arizona to start off their 2018 Pac 12 campaign. BSB: Ducks Sweep Doubleheader Against UC Davis

In what was a full day of baseball, Oregon outlasted UC Davis in both games of a doubleheader on Saturday. In game one, James Acuna pitched a great seven innings with outstanding play from his defense. Oregon was able to get the bats going behind in the middle of the game to earn four runs and support the great play of the defense. Kenyon Yovan came into close and pitched 3 K's in two innings to clinch a 4-1 victory for the Ducks. In game two, Kolby Somers took the mound and Oregon continued its superb defensive play and showed some offensive power as well. Oregon came out of the gates hitting well to gain an early lead and increased the lead all the way through. Oregon provided some exciting plays in this game, including a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt in the sixth inning, a tremendous run-saving diving catch by Jakob Goldfarb, and a deep two RBI double by Evan Williams in the eighth inning. Oregon will finish their four game series against the Aggies on Sunday at 12pm. Read More
