SB: DJ Sanders' Extra Inning Grand Slam Gives Ducks 5-1 Civil War Series Win
5th-ranked Oregon Softball responded from their 4-3 loss to Oregon State on Friday with a 5-1 extra innings win on Saturday thanks to a two-out grand slam by DJ Sanders that clinched a series win. The Ducks trailed heading to the 4th after ace Megan Kleist allowed a solo shot to Oregon State shortstop McKenna Arriola, bringing back memories of the previous day's tight loss. Oregon was determined not to lose their first Civil War series since 2012, though, as freshman and Eugene native Lauren Burke knotted up the game at 1 with her single down the left field line in the 5th frame. Despite close calls by both teams, sharp fielding and impeccable pitching forced the day's rubber match to extra innings. In the 8th inning, UO quickly got two runners on, eventually loaded the bases, and cashed in on Sanders' colossal slam to left-center. After Kleist's straightforward bottom of the 8th, Oregon moved to 27-6 on the year and 4-2 in the Pac-12. Next up for the Ducks is a doubleheader with… Read More

SB: Oregon State Walks Off In Thrilling 4-3 Victory
Oregon Softball was dealt a blow Friday afternoon, as the 5th-ranked Ducks were taken down 4-3 by rival Oregon State in a hectic final few innings. Pitcher Miranda Elish held things scoreless until the 4th inning, and Oregon seemed poised time and again to score early on. However, it was the Beavers coming through with one run in the 4th to chase Elish, and another two in the frame off of Maggie Balint, who relieved her fellow sophomore. The Ducks struck for two in the 5th, and senior catcher Gwen Svekis leveled the game in the top of the 7th with a solo shot to seemingly extend the game to extras. In the end, though, Oregon State got the last laugh on Hope Brandner's walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the frame. Oregon drops to 26-6 on the year with the loss, 3-2 in Pac-12 play, while the Beavers moved to 20-14 on the year, 3-5 in conference. The win ends Oregon State's 16 game losing streak over the Ducks, and sets up a rubber match in the final game of the series, which… Read More

Oregon Women's Basketball's Historic Season Ends in Elite 8
After a season that saw Oregon breakthrough for their first PAC-12 title since 2000 and their highest seeding ever in the NCAA Tournament, the Ducks fell just short of the first Final Four in program history with a 84-74 loss to Notre Dame in the Elite 8 on Monday night. The regions top two seeds dueled in Spokane for the majority of the game, as two of the best offenses in the nation felt each other out for the first half. The difference through the first 20 minutes proved to be Oregon's sophomore stars, as Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard combined for 31 points to lead the Ducks to a 46-40 advantage at the break. Head coach Muffet McGraw and Notre Dame's defense flipped the script in the second, where Oregon's two sophomores shot 3-14 for just 12 points. As a team, the Ducks had one of their worst offensive halves, shooting just 25% from the field as the Irish harassed their shooters all night long. That physicality on the perimeter originated inside, where Notre Dame dominated with… Read More
