FB Preview: Thurston looks to continue win-streak against Willamette
Written by: Saul Galvan
The Colts travel to Willamette High School for a matchup with the Wolverines. Thurston is riding a five-game winning streak after losing their first two games. Willamette has yet to win a game this season, yet had a close match against South Eugene, losing by only three points. Thurston’s offense has been on a tear during their five-game win streak, averaging 47 points a game in that span. Their highest-scoring game came against Crater, as the offense put up 64 points. The defense has also been solid, allowing an average of 13 points this season and pitching a shutout against South Eugene in their recent victory.
Prediction: This should be another comfortable win for Thurston. Willamette has yet to win a game this season, and for most of their opponents that Thurston has played, the Colts have defeated. The biggest threats for Thurston will be wide receiver Walker Bonar and tight end Luke Newell, both of whom have 8 total…

EUGENE, OR - This Saturday, the #9 Oregon Ducks will play host to the visiting Washington State Cougars for some Pac-12 football. The Ducks are coming off a heartbreaking weekend in Seattle that saw them lose their first game of the season in a top-10 matchup to their Pacific Northwest rivals, the Washington Huskies, as kicker, Camden Lewis missed a game-tying field goal as time expired. Oregon will also be debuting their new retro look this week, bringing back the yellow helmets they rocked throughout the 80s and 90s. The Cougars, meanwhile, started off their season 4-0, climbing as high as #13 in the AP Top 25, before losing back-to-back games to UCLA and Arizona. You can catch the game at 12:30 p.m. PST on ABC, and on KWVA, 88.1 FM, where Ryan Milano and Knight Jarecki will be on the call.

The fifth-ranked Ducks (15-2, 5-1 Pac-12) head back to home court after a successful road trip to Colorado and Utah which saw them drop just one set all weekend. The Ducks put together another strong defensive performance holding both teams to a sub-.130 hitting percentage. The defense was anchored by Morgan Lewis and Karson Bacon, who both totaled 13 blocks. Hannah Pukis continued her strong senior campaign with her 12th double-double of the season against Utah. Mimi Colyer picked up two more double-digit kill games but struggled to limit the attack errors, hitting below .200 for the sixth game in a row. Ohio State transfer Gabby Gonzales had arguably the best performance of the weekend as she accounted for 24 total kills while hitting above .300 in both games.
