Eugene, OR-- It has been a great season for both teams as the PAC-12 foes have faced gauntlets of a schedule in 2023. Arizona State has been a tough team at home, with a 14-5 record in Tempe and it’ll be another tough test for a squad who will be aiming to make a statement in a crowded conference. Oregon on the other hand has been consistent this entire season, never losing more than twice in a row and have gone a respectable 6-7 against ranked opponents. A series win for either team will be huge in gaining steam going into the end of the season and will be telling of what’s in store for the playoffs.

Oregon:The Ducks have two of the best players in the country in veterans Allee Bunker and Terra McGowan. Bunker is batting .415 with seven homers and 38 RBIs this season and has been on a tear of late. Despite an overall winning record, the Bushnell Beacons have recently become all too familiar with losses. Last week, the Beacons failed to execute a single win in their series against the University of British Columbia, losing two of the four games by a 10+ run deficit. At Hamlin Sports Complex this past Tuesday, the Beacons lost a close one to Western Oregon University 6-5. Jeff Fripp brought the game within one run after a three-run home run in the bottom of the 8th, but it wasn’t enough to pull out a win. This upcoming weekend, the Beacons host Oregon Tech on their home field with a chance to turn things around as the season’s end draws near.

The Ducks have proven their resilience, securing a 13-12 overtime win over UC Davis last Saturday. Oregon and Arizona State saw their last matchup on March 24th, with a Sun Devil victory of 12-4.

The Ducks fly into the weekend with high spirits, capitalizing off of a recent triumph in their second overtime in as many weeks. Saturday’s game brought redemption from defeat against Colorado, and both players and coaches are ready to channel this confidence into the rest of the season. Head Coach Chelsea Hoffman was proud of the way the Ducks were able to seal the win against UC Davis, despite being in overtime.

After losing last week’s series to rival Oregon State, the Ducks needed to regain some confidence in this 2-game non-conference series against San Francisco. In the first game, the Ducks claimed a 5-3 win to improve to 21-9 on the season. Oregon controlled much of the game, especially on the mound, where pitcher Jackson Pace gave up only 3 hits in 5 innings. The Ducks didn’t allow a single base runner in the 1st inning, and Pace struck out the Dons’ first batter with his first 3 pitches. San Francisco’s first base runner came on a walk in the 2nd inning, and they went the first three innings without a hit. They got their first hit in the 4th but couldn’t do anything with it, despite having a runner on first and second base. 

However, it took the Ducks a bit to get going on offense. Oregon had some batting success to start, but they couldn’t capitalize. The Ducks had a chance to score their first run in the 2nd inning, but…
