VB STORY: Oregon Honors Seniors With 4-Set Win Over USC

By Ryan Oppenheimer

EUGENE, Ore. — After two weeks on the road, the No. 6 ranked Oregon Ducks women's volleyball team returned home Tuesday night and defeated the No. 24 USC Trojans 3 sets to 1 in their final regular season home match of the year.

For Oregon's seven seniors, it was the last regular season home match they would play amongst the trees of Kilkenny Floor. The seniors were honored all match long, but one of them, setter Hannah Pukis, was congratulated separately before the match for joining the prestigious 5,000-career-assist club during the team's recent road trip.

What followed was a scintillating rendition of the national anthem by none other than head coach Matt Ulmer — a reward he gave Oregon fans for breaking the record for season tickets sold.

Oregon got off to a hot start in the first set, rattling off 13 straight points with Pukis behind the service line. She recorded 2 service aces and 7 assists during that stretch.…

FB Preview: Oregon Travels to the Desert

By David Miller

On Saturday, Nov. 18, the #6 University of Oregon Ducks will square off against the Arizona State Sun Devils in a 1 p.m. desert showdown.

The Ducks are on a four game winning streak as they head to Tempe. They control their own destiny, with a potential Pac-12 championship birth and College Football Playoff appearance on the horizon.

The Sun Devils are looking to build on the trials of head coach Kenny Dillingham’s first season at the helm. Before taking over at ASU, Dillingham was the offensive coordinator for the Ducks.

ASU has been more competitive than their 3-7 record would imply, evidenced by their one-score nail-biting loss to #5 Washington in the Seattle sea of purple.

In recent weeks, the Sun Devils have performed impressively, beating previously ranked Washington State and UCLA, thanks in part to the efforts of ASU quarterback Trenton Bourguet.

Although ASU has begun playing better in the…

Oregon Basketball Takes Care of Business Against Tennessee State, 92-67, Friday Night at MKA

Written by Yaniv Horenstein EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon men’s basketball hosted the Tennessee State Tigers at Matthew Knight Arena on Friday. The Ducks came away with a 25-point win, improving to 3-0 on the season for the first time since 2019. The Ducks were once again without star center, N’Faly Dante, who missed his 2nd straight game with a sore hamstring. He’ll see a specialist on Monday in Chicago and could miss more time. The first half was a battle and featured runs by both teams. Oregon had a productive offensive performance, scoring 48 points on 47% field goal. They dominated the paint, getting half their baskets from inside. Nate Bittle and Jesse Zarzuela were the scoring leaders going into the break, but Oregon’s points were spread out, with no Duck scoring in double digits. Defensively, Oregon struggled at times in the first half, allowing TSU to score 40 points on 50% from the field. Tigers guard, EJ Bellinger, was their first-half scoring leader with 13 points, hitting… Read More

WBB PREVIEW: Ducks put undefeated record on the line against Santa Clara

By Liam Baker

EUGENE, Ore. — The Ducks (3-0) will return home to take on the Santa Clara Broncos (3-0) after a narrow 64-56 win over Grand Canyon on Thursday. In their first road game of the season, the Ducks started slow, scoring just nine points in the opening quarter, and trailed GCU early in the second quarter. A Chance Gray free throw midway through the second quarter gave Oregon a lead they would not relinquish. Sophomore Grace VanSlooten led the way with 21 points and junior Phillipina Kyei added 13 of her own on a night when the Ducks struggled to shoot the ball. Despite shooting just 34.5% from the field, Oregon held GCU to a 30.8% shooting percentage. Strong defensive performances have been the norm for the Ducks this season, as an opposing team has yet to shoot above 32% against them this season and they will look to continue to flex their muscles on defense against Santa Clara.

PREVIEW: Oregon Men’s Basketball Set to Host Tennessee State At Home

By Jonah Bruneau

Eugene, ORE. -- The Ducks have jumped out to a hot start so far in the young season with wins against a Power 5 school Georgia, and an N’Faly Dante-less victory in the home opener against Montana. Coming into this season, Oregon was bound to have a plethora of changes to their starting rotation with the departures of Will Richardson, Rivaldo Soares, and Quincy Guerrier. However in the two games played so far, returning players such as Jermaine Couisnard, Nate Bittle, Keeshawn Barthelemy and N’Faly Dante have proven to be meshing quite well.

Dante, a Senior that has been looked at as a potential NBA talent, had an eye-opening 21 rebound performance against Georgia down in Las Vegas which is the most by an Oregon player in almost 50 years. In the matchup with Montana, Dante was inactive for the night for an undisclosed reason, though it has been known that the six-foot eleven center has battled knee and hamstring injuries…
