PREVIEW: Oregon Men's Basketball Set to Tip Off 2023-2024 Season
Written by Yaniv Horenstein and Leo Schulhof
College basketball is BACK! The Oregon men’s basketball team is set to begin their season this Monday (Nov 6) against Georgia. With the transfer portal taking over NCAA sports, players jumping ship has become the new normal in college basketball. Oregon is a prime example of the changing times with heavy roster turnover. Of the 15 players on the roster, eight are playing their first season in green and yellow. Let’s dive into Dana Altman’s squad for this year.
Oregon’s most intriguing position will be the center. N’Faly Dante is returning for his fifth season at Oregon, and the 6’11 dominant big man was named to the preseason All-Pac 12 first team. Dante averaged 13 points and eight rebounds last season while recording ten double-doubles in 30 starts. Dante shines in the low post as a force on both offense and defense and is looking to raise his stock in next year’s NBA draft. He came back for a…

Oregon Football Story: Oregon Ducks Dominate against the Cal Golden Bears
Written By: Ben Schoenfield
EUGENE, OR– On Saturday afternoon the Oregon Ducks Football team played at Autzen Stadium versus the Cal Berkeley Golden Bears in a Pac-12 matchup. The Ducks beat the Golden Bears 63-19 with a combined air and run attack. Bo Nix and Tez Johnson lead this team with big games for each of them. Bo Nix threw 29/38 for 386 yards and 4 touchdowns. Tez had 12 receptions for 180 yards and had 3 punt returns for 75 yards. Nix has 25 passing touchdowns and 5 rushing touchdowns, including 2 today, to only two interceptions.
The first quarter was very sloppy on both sides. There were four turnovers in the quarter alone, including on the first play where Bo Nix threw a slant to Tez Johnson, and it slipped out of his hands and got picked off. The Oregon defense returned the favor on Cal’s first drive, when Steve Stephens IV got the ball back with a redzone pick. Stephens interception came after a blocked field goal returned for a…

EUGENE, OR - On Friday night, the Thurston Colts defeated the Dallas Dragons 37-24 to quarterfinals of the 5A Oregon state playoffs. The Colts were once again led by their high-powered air attack, as quarterback, Noah Blair, threw for 326 yards while tossing four touchdowns and adding another on the ground. Blair now has 41 touchdowns on the season, 37 passing and four rushing, and has only turned the ball over three times.
Again for the Colts, the star of the game was receiver, Walker Bonar, who finished with 155 yards and two touchdowns, including a 95-yard house call that opened scoring for both teams. Bonar has been incredible this season for Thurston, averaging over 130 yards per game while catching 16 touchdowns in only eight games, as he missed the Colts first two contests with an injury.
Thurston’s defense was able to limit the Dragons offense, especially their passing game, until late in the contest, which allowed them to build…

When Oregon takes the field Saturday at Autzen stadium; a game which it is favored to win by more than three touchdowns, Dan Lanning’s team will have the same attitude it has this season regardless of opponent. The goal: win and do it in convincing fashion. With the first college football playoff rankings of the 2023 season released on Halloween, the Ducks are just two spots out of a potential trip back to the CFP for the first time since 2014. Cal will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak on the other hand but will be tested against an Oregon team with much larger aspirations.
Cal:
The Golden Bears are one of the most interesting teams in the nation with an offense that has been led by three different quarterbacks in its eight games this year. With Fernando Mendoza under center, Cal’s offense finally looks capable of putting up consistent outings. After starting the season as the third-string quarterback,…

This Friday, the Thurston Colts will take on the Dallas Dragons in the first round of the 2023 Oregon High School Football Playoffs. Both teams are coming off successful seasons and resounding Week Nine victories, making for an interesting matchup.
Thurston:
The Colts faced trouble early in the season, taking losses in their first two games to Wilsonville and Summit. Despite this, they finished undefeated in league play, capping off their 7-2 season with a dominant 48-28 win over Churchill. Sitting at first place in the league, Thurston aims to continue their seven game winning streak. “We’re just a very tight knit group,” says Coach Justin Starck, “I’m proud of the way they responded after the first two games. I’m happy for them and for our community.”
Thurston’s strengths stem from the offensive side of the ball. “We’re way more prolific offensively this year,”…

The Oregon Ducks soccer team (0-15-3) will drive 49 miles on Friday to Paul Lorenz Field in Corvallis to take on the Oregon State Beavers (3-8-7) in the final game of the season. The Ducks have struggled through a transitional season, with more than half of the squad composed of freshmen. The team looks to win the rivalry game and avoid a winless season, while the Beavers look for their first conference win of their season.
Oregon: The Ducks had their last two home games against the Washington schools and lost a game and tied the other. On Thursday the 26th of October, they fell in a close 1-0 to an aggressive Washington Huskies team. Oregon defended well and had opportunities to score but couldn’t capitalize and an unlucky rebound goal with 3 minutes of game time remaining gave the visitors the win. On Sunday the 29th they hosted the Washington State Cougars and tied 2-2 in a back-and-forth affair. The team was down 2-1 at…
