Player Profile: Jeffrey Bassa
By Jonah Bruneau
EUGENE, OR — The 2023 Oregon Ducks defensive personnel saw a hefty amount of changes compared to the season prior, with the departures of Christian Gonzalez, Bennett Williams, Noah Sewell, and Jordan Riley off to the NFL. Transfers such as Khyree Jackson from Alabama have come in to be a key help in the secondary, yet the majority of the starters on the defensive side have come from within the Oregon system. One of those leaders from within: Junior Inside Linebacker Jeffrey Bassa.
A four-star recruit out of high school who was widely regarded as the top-rated safety in the state of Utah, Bassa is now in his third year wearing the Oregon green and yellow. As a true freshman in 2021, he opened up the season listed as a defensive back before soon making the switch primarily to an inside linebacker. Once the position switch was made, Bassa started making a big impact relatively quickly. In the Week 10 matchup at Washington, he received the PAC-…

EUGENE, OR - This weekend, the #10 Oregon Ducks will host Deion Sanders and the #19 Colorado Buffaloes at Autzen Stadium to kick off the start of the Pac-12 season for both teams.
They head into Saturday’s matchup with undefeated records, with the Ducks sporting wins over Portland State, Texas Tech, and Hawaii, and the Buffaloes defeating TCU, Nebraska, and Colorado State. Oregon’s best win so far was a thrilling 38-30 comeback in Lubbock to take down the Red Raiders, while Colorado’s best win was a road upset over last year’s CFP runner-up, the #17 TCU Horned Frogs, that put Boulder back on the college football map. You can catch the game at 12:30 on ABC, and on KWVA, 88.1 FM, where Ryan Milano and Knight Jarecki will be on the call.

After a clean sweep against Marquette, the No. 6 ranked Oregon Women's Volleyball team is looking forward to facing their top rival – Oregon State. “We will give you a reason to cheer. You just gotta show up and be willing to,” said head coach Matt Ulmer on Wednesday to the press. Oregon coaches and student athletes are entering this game with confidence and they have every reason to. They have won ten of the 11 matches they have played so far this year and have won 33 of the 41 sets played. Leading the team in scoring this season is the sophomore sensation Mimi Colyer, who has averaged 5.24 points and 4.49 kills per set, leading the team in both of these categories. Several other players including Morgan Lewis and Gabby Gonzales have also put up impressive numbers.
The Beavers come into this match with something to prove. They are not in the Top 25 rankings, but that does not mean they are not a…

Written By: Griffin Bowes
After a slow start, the Thurston Colts are hoping to improve to 2-2 with a road win over the Crater Comets of Central Point, located around 150 miles south of Eugene. Around a week ago, the talk surrounding the Thurston program was anything but pleasant. Coming off of a 9-3 season, the Colts severely underperformed in their first two games. They lost by 29 points at Wilsonville in their season opener, and then returned home for another 20+ point loss against Summit. Luckily, they were able to right the ship and rebound last week with a convincing win over North Eugene, their first game in league play. With momentum on their side, a win against league-member Crater would go a long way for the Colts this season.
Junior starting quarterback Noah Blair has played great to start the season. Over just 3 games, he has thrown for almost 900 yards, with an average of 12.1 yards per…
