VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW: Oregon heads to Corvallis for its final match of the regular season

By Agustin Tapia

Oregon

The Ducks volleyball team had a great season behind them. Overall, they are 25-5, and their performance in the Pac-12 totaled 15-4, with only one more game left this year against Oregon State. Their losses were against Minnesota, Washington State, Arizona State and two losses against Stanford. The Ducks’ previous match was against Southern California, where they won 3-1 in sets. Morgan Lewis led the team’s kills with an overwhelming 19, adding her total to 300 kills this season, but trailing only Mimi Colyer’s 383 kills.

Morgan Lewis started the season with a consistent kill pattern in the first six matches. In the following five matches, she would reach double digits, dropping below that threshold until late October, when she would once again stay in the double digits. Lewis has matched 19 kills an additional two times. The first was against Pittsburgh and the second was their second match…

PREVIEW: Ducks One Win Away From PAC-12 Championship Berth

By Jonah Bruneau

Eugene, ORE. – This is it. One final Ducks-Beavers showdown for the near future. With the Ducks going off to the Big Ten conference and the Beavers potentially becoming an independent team along with Washington State, the beloved Oregon-Oregon State rivalry series could potentially see its last chapter written inside Autzen stadium on Black Friday night.

The Ducks have the advantage over the Beavers throughout history with a 67-49-10 record, going back all the way to the very first matchup in 1894 when the then-Oregon Agricultural University (now Oregon State) defeated Oregon 16-0.

In recent history, the Beavers have brought the fight to the Ducks. Over the last four seasons, the two programs have an even split in those games. Possibly the most back-breaking for the Ducks was just a season ago, where Oregon held a 31-10 lead in Corvallis with less than five minutes remaining in the third quarter and were…

VB STORY: Oregon Honors Seniors With 4-Set Win Over USC

By Ryan Oppenheimer

EUGENE, Ore. — After two weeks on the road, the No. 6 ranked Oregon Ducks women's volleyball team returned home Tuesday night and defeated the No. 24 USC Trojans 3 sets to 1 in their final regular season home match of the year.

For Oregon's seven seniors, it was the last regular season home match they would play amongst the trees of Kilkenny Floor. The seniors were honored all match long, but one of them, setter Hannah Pukis, was congratulated separately before the match for joining the prestigious 5,000-career-assist club during the team's recent road trip.

What followed was a scintillating rendition of the national anthem by none other than head coach Matt Ulmer — a reward he gave Oregon fans for breaking the record for season tickets sold.

Oregon got off to a hot start in the first set, rattling off 13 straight points with Pukis behind the service line. She recorded 2 service aces and 7 assists during that stretch.…

FB Preview: Oregon Travels to the Desert

By David Miller

On Saturday, Nov. 18, the #6 University of Oregon Ducks will square off against the Arizona State Sun Devils in a 1 p.m. desert showdown.

The Ducks are on a four game winning streak as they head to Tempe. They control their own destiny, with a potential Pac-12 championship birth and College Football Playoff appearance on the horizon.

The Sun Devils are looking to build on the trials of head coach Kenny Dillingham’s first season at the helm. Before taking over at ASU, Dillingham was the offensive coordinator for the Ducks.

ASU has been more competitive than their 3-7 record would imply, evidenced by their one-score nail-biting loss to #5 Washington in the Seattle sea of purple.

In recent weeks, the Sun Devils have performed impressively, beating previously ranked Washington State and UCLA, thanks in part to the efforts of ASU quarterback Trenton Bourguet.

Although ASU has begun playing better in the…
