Oregon softball handed Arizona State's Giselle Juarez just her second loss of the season on Friday night, defeating the Sun Devils 5-0. Megan Kleist threw a complete-game, three-hitter, while striking out 10 and walking none. Mary Iakopo reached safely three times and hit a two-run home run to dead center off Juarez. The Ducks took advantage of three Arizona State errors to the tune of three unearned runs. The win is Oregon's seventh in a row. Game two of the series is set for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. AUDIO: Defense Hoping to Make More Strides for Oregon Football
The departure of Willie Taggart after last year's regular season opened assistant coaching spots for new head coach Mario Cristobal to fill. One of those spots went to Cort Dennison, a former Washington Huskie that now operates as Oregon's outside linebackers coach. Much like Cristobal, Dennison saw positives from the defense's front seven in last weekend's scrimmage, but is looking to the rest of the spring as an opportunity to make more strides. The Ducks got that chance on Thursday morning as they hit the practice fields once again. Listen below to the full interview with Dennison prior to practice, including a chat with Deommodere Lenoir, a sophomore cornerback expected to step into a larger role in the secondary this upcoming fall.

Oregon baseball suffered perhaps their toughest loss of the season on Monday night, losing 9-7 in 11 innings to Portland after a seemingly miraculous comeback. The Ducks trailed 2-0 after a half inning, then 6-3 after two and a half innings, and finally were down 7-6 with two outs in the ninth before Kenyan Yovan delivered a saving grace solo shot to left field. However, Oregon couldn't recover from a 2-run 11th inning by the Pilots, who outhit the Ducks 15-8 a day after UO couldn't muster a single hit against Washington State. Connor Knutson notched the win for Portland (11-19), while reliever Ryne Nelson (1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) received the loss. Oregon moves to 18-13 on the year and have now suffered back-to-back losses as their sights move to a weekend series in Seattle against Washington
