BSB: Oregon Loses Crushing 9-7 Extra Inning Game to Portland

Oregon baseball suffered perhaps their toughest loss of the season on Monday night, losing 9-7 in 11 innings to Portland after a seemingly miraculous comeback. The Ducks trailed 2-0 after a half inning, then 6-3 after two and a half innings, and finally were down 7-6 with two outs in the ninth before Kenyan Yovan delivered a saving grace solo shot to left field. However, Oregon couldn't recover from a 2-run 11th inning by the Pilots, who outhit the Ducks 15-8 a day after UO couldn't muster a single hit against Washington State. Connor Knutson notched the win for Portland (11-19), while reliever Ryne Nelson (1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) received the loss. Oregon moves to 18-13 on the year and have now suffered back-to-back losses as their sights move to a weekend series in Seattle against Washington GAME STORY (by Matt Tyra)… Read More

SB | Oregon Defeats #9 Arizona, Sweeps the Weekend Series

Following a 25-hour delay that saw the Ducks run-rule the Wildcats for the first time this season, Oregon capitalized to defeat Arizona in the final game of the series 10 to 0. Megan Kleist started for the Ducks and she was in control for the entire five innings she pitched. She allowed zero runs en route to striking out 10 batters and walking away with the win. Mary Iakopo gave the Wildcats' pitching staff fits, going three for four, accumulating four RBIs and hitting a three-run homer to force the run-rule. The Wildcats were held to one hit all game when Reyna Carranco was able to single in the fourth inning. The Ducks will look to take the momentum from the series sweep with them when they play #7 Arizona State in Phoenix, beginning on Friday, April 13. Game Story (by Jonathan Rifkind)… Read More

BSB: Washington State dominates Oregon 7-0, Scotty Sunitsch throws no-hitter.

Oregon and Washington State faced off for game 3 on Sunday after the Ducks took the first two games on Friday. In what turned out to be a sunny day, that didn't turn out to be the case for the Ducks. Scotty Sunitsch took the mound for Washington State and controlled the game from start to finish. Oregon got on base four times total, but all from walks as Sunitsch earned the no hitter.  In Oregon Baseball history, this is the first time the Ducks have been no hit according to their records. Oregon couldn't find consistent pitching throughout the entire game, with four different pitchers taking the mound. Kolby Somers got the start and pitched four strong innings, but in the fifth inning gave up three straight singles and an rbi triple, leading to James Acuna relieving him. From there, the most innings any Duck pitcher went was 2.1. Ultimately, Oregon gave up 9 hits and 7 runs with some crucial fielding mistakes, including two deep hits that were just out of reach for the Oregon… Read More

AUDIO: Seniors Shine in Upset Victory for Oregon Women's Lacrosse

The Ducks got a trio of seniors to tally hat tricks in their regular season finale at Pape Field, leading Oregon to an 18-11 win over #16 USC for its first victory over a ranked opponent since 2008. Just a day removed from a blistering start against Arizona State that saw them score 14 points unanswered in the first half, the Ducks channeled their emotions and momentum into another strong half to open Sunday's game. USC would get on the board first, but the Ducks take over from there, holding a 10-3 lead at the break. The Trojans ended the half with two goals, but Oregon looked good out of halftime as well and would score four straight to hold a 14-3 lead. USC had a response, fighting and clawing for the remainder of the game, getting as close as five down with 10 minutes to play, but the Ducks' patient attack finally found its stride again to close out the win. Jojo Hesketh, who had just 10 goals coming into the weekend, led the way with five on Sunday, bringing her to a total of… Read More
