FB | Oregon Offense Bests Defense in Fast-Paced Spring Game

After a four-month hiatus, Oregon Football hosted their annual Spring Game at Autzen Stadium, with the offense - Team Thunder - beating Team Lightning and the defense 59-34. Though the game was played under different scoring rules than a typical football game, spectators were still treated to an offensive show, in large part thanks to  two redshirt freshmen, running backs C.J. Verdell and WR Daewood Davis. While offensive personnel rotated every possession, Verdell led all running backs with eight carries, totaling 44 yards and two touchdowns. Davis caught 3 passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Both freshmen accumulated their totals in the first half. Oregon's defense showed signs of improvement as well. After missing the latter half of the 2017 season, Kaulana Apelu made his presence felt, leading the defense with nine tackles and returning an interception for a 103-yard touchdown. With the offense's victory, the Ducks are done practicing until they reconvene in the fall.… Read More

SB: Oregon Defeat Stanford For 17th Time In A Row

April 6, 2012 was the last time Stanford softball beat the Oregon Ducks. 17 meetings later, the Ducks remain on top. It took 14 hits from 10 different Oregon players to score 8 runs to back up the 4 runs Miranda Elish gave up. The Ducks were red hot in the early innings, scoring 6 runs in the second inning, and then 1 run apiece in the fourth and fifth innings. Elish did end the night striking at 12 batters and only allowing 6 hits, but three Duck errors and some well-timed hits by the Cardinal kept Stanford from being mercy ruled. Following UCLA's 3-0 win over the nation's number one team the Washington Huskies, Oregon UCLA and Washington all have three losses. The Ducks will send Megan Kleist back to the circle tomorrow in hopes of winning the series at 5 pm. Game Story (by Bill Braker)… Read More

SB: Oregon 1 Hits the Defending National Champion Oklahoma Sooners

It was less than a year ago that Oregon's 2017 season came to an end in Oklahoma City at the hands of the Oklahoma Sooners. Thursday evening's non-conference bout brought the #2 Oklahoma Sooners in to Eugene for a rematch of last year's semifinal game. The Ducks shutout the nation's leading offense en route to a 5-0 victory. Megan Kleist was in the circle for the Ducks and she pitched an absolute gem. Kleist saw the minimum 21 hitters in her 7 innings of work, allowing only two base-runners, 1 via a walk and the other via a controversial error ruling. Nonetheless, Kleist struck out five batters. Oregon scored in nearly inning, excluding the second, fifth, and sixth innings. DJ Sanders and Mary Iakopo each had home runs for the Ducks. After beating the #2 team in the nation, the Ducks will host a non-ranked Stanford (22-20, 2-10) team in a three game series beginning Friday at 6 pm. Game Story: (By: Bill Braker)Read More
