VB | Oregon Stifles New Mexico State in First Round of NCAA Tournament, 3-1
The Oregon Ducks got their first chance to host an opening round of an NCAA Tournament since 2014 and they didn't disappoint. Oregon has been plagued with slow starts all season and Thursday night at Matthew Knight Arena would be no different. New Mexico State (24-8) would jump out to a quick 9-4 lead over Oregon (21-10) in set one, forcing them to regroup. After an early set one timeout by head coach Matt Ulmer, the Ducks would rattle off multiple runs of four consecutive points. The Ducks would comeback and take a set one victory. The Ducks could not control New Mexico State's diverse offensive attack in set two as the Aggies rattled off a 15-4 run to end set two. The Ducks would go into intermission needing a to be recharged after being dominated in set two. Oregon's Willow Johnson would become the jolt that Oregon needed down the homestretch. AUDIO: No. 18 Oregon MBB Looks to Rebound in Houston
Following one of the more shocking losses in recent memory after falling to Texas Southern on Monday, No. 18 Oregon men's basketball must rebound in its first true road test at Houston on Saturday. The Ducks led by as much as 13 in the second half on Monday, but without the interior defense of sophomore Kenny Wooten, who didn't return after injuring his knee in the first half, TSU's Trayvon Reed tallied a career-high 23 points. The loss was just the fourth non-conference loss Oregon has suffered in Matthew Knight Arena. Bol Bol was the team's sole bright spot, notching a double-double with 32 points and 11 rebounds, and head coach Dana Altman and the Ducks will look to the stellar freshmen to help them bounce back. The Cougars enter the weekend 5-0 on the season, and until a 58-53 win over UT Rio Grande Valley, were one of just five teams in the nation that had won each game by at least double digits. Houston hosts Oregon at 6 p.m. on Saturday, listen below as Altman and the Ducks… Read More
