FB | Ducks Drop Beavers in 55-15 Civil War Romp
Oregon Football closed their regular season with a 55-15 victory in the 122nd Civil War in Corvallis, losing Justin Herbert to an upper-body injury in the process. Braxton Burmeister filled in for Herbert after half, but in reality, freshmen tailbacks CJ Verdell and Travis Dye replaced the star quarterback's production. Dye posted career-highs with 33 carries for 199 yards, chipping in a touchdown in the process, while Verdell needed just 24 touches to reach career-highs of 208 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns. Burmeister attempted just two passes, completing one for 16 yards; before the injury, Herbert went 9-12 through the air for 102 yards and a touchdown to Verdell.
The Ducks raced out of the gates under initially amenable weather conditions, scoring touchdowns on two of their first three drives in a dry Reser Stadium. STORY: Oregon Football Respecting History Ahead of 122nd Civil War
Oregon Football Head Coach Mario Cristobal is familiar with great rivalries, having played in some high stakes games against Florida State during his blocking days with Miai. It may not come as a surprise, then, that his Ducks are showing extra respect to the Beavers ahead of the 122nd Civil War. There's plenty of recent history to make this iteration special, but even so, the Ducks recruited some help to instill the importance of the Civil War in their players.

STORY: An Unlikely Star Against Arizona State, Gus Cumberlander Finds a Role with Oregon Football
Entering last Saturday's matchup with Arizona State, Gus Cumberlander had recorded just 10 career tackles his first 22 career games along Oregon's defensive line. Four quarters of football later and an injury to senior Jalen Jelks that sprung the redshirt junior into the rotation and he had added three more tackles, including two momentous sacks and a fumble recovery that sealed the narrow 31-29 victory after La'Mar Winston Jr. came off the edge and stripped the ball from Manny Wilkins. Having now played in 10 of the Ducks' 11 contests in 2018, Cumberlander is starting to find his role and his confidence along the defensive front. Listen below to the full story on Oregon's previously unheralded defensive lineman as he continues to find his place in Jim Leavitt's defense.
