VB: Ducks Drop Close Match Against Colorado 3-2, On Senior Night

#16 Oregon lost to the Colorado Buffaloes 3-2 (25-19, 22-25, 21-25, 25-20, 14-16) Friday night for the Ducks last home regular season game. The team celebrated the contributions of their seniors: Haley McLaren, Sumeet Gill, Lauren Page, August Raskie and Lindsey Vander Weide. Willow Johnson led the way with a season-high 18 kills, while Brooke Nuneviller had a strong 30 digs. Coach Ulmer praised the competitive level of the team as they faced a hungry opponent in Colorado. Not many collegiate players experience as long and chaotic a journey in their career as Oregon's redshirt senior edge defender Justin Hollins has. The only Duck remaining that saw action in the program's 2014 National Championship loss to Ohio State, Hollins has stuck around in Eugene with three different head coaches and defensive coordinators. Now as he nears the end of his career, Hollins looks to close it the right way on Saturday's senior night matchup with Arizona State. #16 Oregon (18-9, 11-6) took down the Utah Utes (15-13, 7-10) in straight sets Wednesday evening to begin their final homestretch. Oregon outhit Utah .296 to .206 and had 11 more assists to pave the way for their victory. Senior August Raskie shined with 6 kills and 39 assists. A lot of Oregon's success is due to the fact that they had five players with a hitting percentage over .250. Serving was a big emphasis for Coach Ulmer heading into tonight as his team had three serving aces and five serving errors.
