WBB | No. 7 Oregon Toughs Out Top Ten Win Over No. 4 Mississippi State

With a tough, gritty performance on Tuesday night in Matthew Knight Arena, No. 7 Oregon women's basketball knocked off No. 4 Mississippi state 82-74. Sabrina Ionsecu led the way with 29 points, 17 of which came from the line, while Maite Cazorla added 20 of her own. It marks the first non-conference regular season loss for the Bulldogs after 46 consecutive wins.

In a matchup of the nation's top scoring offenses, Tuesday's opening quarter didn't disappoint. Each team traded baskets back-and-forth with the lead exchanging hands 12 separate times and never growing beyond two points. With guards Maite Cazorla and Sabrina Ionescu leading the way, the Ducks used timely stops on defense and blistering efficiency on offense to build the half's largest lead of six in the second quarter. But behind a bruising effort on the boards that gave the Bulldogs, the No. 2 team in the country in rebounding margin, a +6 advantage and seven second-chance points off of eight offensive…

MBB | Oregon Blows Past Florida A&M for Fourth Straight Win

With injuries limiting its personnel, Oregon men's basketball cruised past Florida A&M 71-64 on Tuesday afternoon in Matthew Knight Arena. Having to look elsewhere once again for offensive production, the Ducks got three players in double-figures and used 45% shooting from the field to build a large enough lead to hold off a 13-0 run by Florida A&M to end the game and win its fourth straight.

With both Bol Bol or Abu Kigab unavailable due to injury, head coach Dana Altman changed his lineup for Tuesday's tip, opting to go small with sophomore guard Victory Bailey Jr. along with freshman Louis King both earning their first career starts. The switch failed to cure Oregon's offense of the slow-starts that have repeatedly plagued the Ducks this season, which despite hitting its first shot, went on to miss 12 of the next 13 and at one point, missing eight shots in a row. It was Bailey Jr. who finally got Oregon going, as the sophomore hit two free throws and…

MBB | Bol-less Ducks Defeat Boise State 66-54

Playing without the team's star freshman center Bol Bol, Oregon men's basketball knocked off Boise State 66-54 in Matthew Knight Arena on Saturday night. The team announced just 30 minutes prior to tip-off that Bol was unavailable for the game due to a lower-leg injury. The first of two games against each other over the next two weeks, the Ducks leaned on junior point guard Payton Pritchard (19 points and five rebounds) and contributions from a variety of others (highlighted by 25 points off the bench) in his absence to win the first round over the Broncos.

It was a lethargic first half of offense for either side, with both the Ducks and Broncos suffering from separate scoring droughts of several minutes at a time. But in the absence of Bol, Oregon got productive contributions from its bench players. With Boise State leading 15-12, Victory Bailey Jr. went on a six-point spurt to give his team the lead, turning a loose ball into a dunk and then converting a four-…

MBB | Gritty Second Half Pushes Oregon Past San Diego 65-55

Behind Bol Bol's 20 points and an aggressive defense that forced 16 turnovers and tallied six blocks, the Oregon men's basketball (6-3) team defeated San Diego (8-3) by a score of 65-55 on Wednesday night. Oregon started slow on offense in the first half, going through two different stretches of more than three minutes without a field goal. This opened the door for San Diego to build a lead that grew to as much as nine thanks to 10 points from Olin Carter III and an efficient offense that shot 48% from the field in the first half. But after Ehab Amin gave the Ducks a productive six minutes off the bench with five points and three steals (he'd finish with the night with four), the team found a new resolve on defense. Oregon forced San Diego into six turnovers in the final five minutes and translated that disruptive play into a four of five shooting stretch to cut the lead to 32-31 at the break. The Ducks carried that momentum into the second half, hitting its first five shots… Read More

VB | Oregon Bows out to Reigning Champs in Elite Eight Sweep

Fifteen-seed Oregon Volleyball (23-11) saw their season come to a close in Minneapolis on Saturday, December 8, dropping straight sets to seven-seed and reigning national champion Nebraska 25-22, 25-23, and 25-17 in the Elite Eight. Despite a tight first two sets, Oregon went into intermission down 2-0, a deficit the Ducks faced in eight winless matches this year. The Ducks and 'Huskers were tied 20-20 in both sets, while Oregon held a 12-7 lead early in the second set, but Nebraska rebounded in large part thanks to two-time NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Mikaela Foecke's 16 kills (.400) and 13 digs. Oregon then faced Nebraska dominance in the third frame, as the Huskers led early and pulled away late for a no-doubt victory and spot in the Final Four. The loss ends a banner year for second-year head coach Matt Ulmer, whose all-time record drops to 41-23. The former Carthage College setter led Oregon to just its second-ever Elite Eight and the program's first since 2012. Now… Read More
