WBB | Oregon bounces back to with a win in a rematch of last seasons Sweet 16
The Oregon Ducks defeated the South Dakota State Jack Rabbits by a score of 95-56 in Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks were coming off their first loss of the season against Louisville 72-62 in the Paradise Jam Island Division Tournament. Oregon has had plenty of time to prepare for the rematch against South Dakota State as they have had 8 days of rest since the loss in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Oregon won the match-up against the Jack Rabbits last year by a score of 63-53. The result was the same the second time around as Oregon thoroughly handled the Jack Rabbits 95-56. The Ducks jumped ahead early thanks to their defensive play which forced 13 turnovers and allowed Oregon to get easy baskets in transition. Oregon could not be stopped from beyond the arc as they shot 14-24 from downtown on 58% shooting as Holly Winterburn and Erin Boley were feeling it from deep with Winterburn scoring 5 3-pointers and Boley making 4. South Dakota State had no answer for the front court…

This evening, Oregon Men’s Basketball took on the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. The Ducks, coming off a two-game losing slide, continued the form they had all tournament long at The Battle For Atlantis. In the first half, Oregon forced the Rainbow Warriors to work deep into the shot clock and take contested 3-pointers. Much to their credit, Hawaii was able to knock down a lot of those contested shots. Hawaii shot 47% from deep in the first half, thanks largely in part to Eddie Stansberry. Stansberry finished the half with 14 points on 5-9 from the field and consistently bailed the Rainbow Warriors out of poor possessions late in the shot clock. The Rainbow Warriors played well in the first half and were able to go into the locker room tied 34-34 at the break.
The Ducks started the night slow and it seemed like they were in for a close game from whistle to whistle. Dana Altman had other plans. The Ducks came out of halftime…

Oregon (11-2, 8-1) will be participating in the 106th Rose Bowl Game on January 1st, 2019 after claiming a decisive 37-15 win over Utah (11-2, 8-1) in the Pac-12 Championship Game on Friday night. Against the nation’s top rush defense, Oregon rushed for 239 yards, the most allowed by Utah this season, and three touchdowns. CJ Verdell led the way for Oregon, as his 208 rushing yards and three touchdowns solidified his spot in Oregon history as the third Duck to ever rush for 1000-plus yards in his freshmen and sophomore campaigns.
With a variety of play-calling and proper execution of the calls, Oregon ran out of the gates, shocking the country’s fifth-ranked team by building up a 20-point halftime advantage. Those 20 first-half points were the most the Utes gave up all season long. Oregon’s defense suffocated the conference’s top third-down offense, holding Utah without a third-down conversion in the first half.
With the win, Oregon earned their eight ever…
