The Oregon Ducks (3-4) defeated the Nevada Wolfpack (0-6) by a score of 9-1 at home on Sunday. Robert Ahlstrom started his second game of the season for the Ducks and recorded his first win following 6 innings of work allowing 4 hits and 0 runs. Gabe Matthews went 2-4 with 3 RBIs and freshman Jack Scanlon matched his season total with 3 hits on the game and also finished with his first career home run.

The Ducks came out ready to play in the first inning sending three Wolfpack batters down in quick succession. In the bottom frame, OF Tanner Smith hit a deep fly ball downfield the third base line and got it to drop just inside the white line for a double. Following a Nevada balk, Kenyon Yovan brought the run home in a fielder's choice groundout to the shortstop. Ducks lead 1-0 after the first.

Oregon was able to grab their second victory of the season today at PK Park in the second game against the University of Nevada Reno Wolfpack. It looked like the Wolfpack were going to notch their first win of the season but following a two run double by Aaron Zavala in the 6th, the Ducks would take the 3-2 lead and ride it the rest of the way for their second consecutive victory. The Ducks took advantage of a routine pop fly error, followed by a walk to score the tying and winning runs. Zavala on his thought process at the plate said “It’s sort of a cliche mindset, but not worrying about the situation and just trying to do what you can for the team.” Nevada starting pitcher Jake Jackson would receive the loss in the stat column, however pitching 7 strong innings giving up three runs (one being earned). Wiley Tilley would be the lone member of the Wolfpack with an RBI, coming up with two on a double down the left field line to give Nevada Reno…

It was a gorgeous Friday evening in Eugene as the Oregon Ducks faced off against the University of Nevada Reno Wolfpack in a thrilling comeback win in the ninth inning for the Ducks. Pitching drove the narrative for both teams for most of the game, but that narrative quickly changed when the Ducks scored four runs in the final two innings to tie and then win the game. Both clubs came into the evening winless, and it looked like the Wolfpack would be the first to claim a victory but an 8th inning single by Aaaron Zavala, the game would be tied at two a piece going into the ninth. From there Kenyon Yovan would come away being the hero hitting a lightning bolt to score the game winning run in walk-off fashion. Yovan would finish the evening 3-4 while hitting .625 for the season so far. Oregon Women's Basketball (24-2, 13-1) will travel to Northern California this weekend to face off against California and Stanford. The Ducks have been battle tested the last month having beaten 12 straight opponents including eight in the top 25, most recently defeating #7 UCLA and USC. Oregon tests their winning streak against a 10-15 Cal team on Friday, before going against the #4 Stanford Cardinal on Monday night. Kelly Graves, Jaz Shelley, and Erin Boley previewed the weekend in California.

Oregon has just five regular season games left, and only two games left to try and improve on road woes. Oregon is the only team left standing in the Pac-12 with a perfect conference record at home (6-0) yet they have been falling short on the road with a 3-4 conference record. Head Coach Dana Altman points out that home teams have won 70% of games in the Pac-12 this season, but only a fraction of the Eugene fans will follow Oregon throughout the tournament, and the Ducks need to play more consistent away from home to make noise in the postseason.
