STORY: Oregon Baseball Walks Off in 11th to Sweep OSU
Story by: Dylan Reubenking
The 20th-ranked Oregon Ducks completed a three-game sweep over the 18th-ranked Oregon State Beavers with a 5-4 victory Sunday at PK Park.
Starting pitcher Brett Walker rolled through the Beavers rotation in the first six innings, allowing one run and two hits. In a 1-1 tie in the 7th, the Beavers scored three runs on three hits off Walker to take a 4-1 lead and send Walker to the dugout.
The Ducks rallied to tie the game in the eighth, scoring three runs on clutch at-bats from Aaron Zavala, Gabe Matthews, Sam Novitske, and true freshman Tyler Ganus. Ganus was struck by a pitch from Jake Mulholland to bring home the tying run.
It was a brilliant performance from the Ducks bullpen in relief of Walker. RJ Gordon, Isaac Ayon, Hunter Breault, and Decker Stedman combined for 4.1 scoreless innings to keep the game within distance for Oregon.
With two down in the 11th, Tristan Hanoian dropped a drag bunt for a…

In the series finale of #3 Oregon and #2 UCLA, the Bruins proved to be too much to handle for the Ducks. Oregon got off to a good start both offensively and defensively in this one, with solo HRs from Allee Bunker and Haley Cruse in the first few innings to go up 2-0. Brooke Yanez held UCLA without a hit for the first four innings, but then the bats woke up for the Bruins. Kinsley Washington drove in a run for the Bruins in the fifth to make it 2-1. Then in the sixth, Rachel Garcia hit a two-run shot to left field to claim the lead at 3-2. Oregon had a chance to tie or lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when the first two runners were walked, but Rachel Garcia managed to retire three straight to keep the game at 3-2. Then in the top of the 7th, Briana Perez struck a 3 run HR to stretch the lead to 6-2 and pull Brooke Yanez out of the game. In 6.2 innings, Yanez allowed 5 hits and threw 8 K's. Oregon's offense stalled when Rachel Garcia entered the game in the third inning,…

Saturday evening saw the No. 21 ranked Ducks defeat the No. 19 Oregon State Beavers at PK Park in game two of their weekend series. The Ducks defeated the Beavers on Friday night 4-1, and Saturday night, the Ducks won again, this time 5-1.
“You want to be able to win in a lot of different ways-that’s when we are a good team. It’s not easy sometimes to score when the weather turns cold at PK park at a late night game…it was just fun to watch the players, they wanted to win and it was evident through their execution.” Coach Wasikowski stated in the post-game presser.
The game started off with Oregon State playing aggressive in the box, and throughout the evening had opportunities with runners on base, but left a total of 12 on base. It was a struggle throughout, with the Beavers only batting .152 for the game.
Defensively for the Ducks, tonight presented opportunities…
