STORY: Oregon VB Sweeps OSU 3-0 to Move to 11-3

Oregon Volleyball went neck-and-neck with Oregon State on Friday- but that certainly was not the case today. Oregon (25-19, 25-22, 25-22) defeated OSU in straight sets in its first road match since February 7th.

Oregon led from the jump set one, winning it in dominant fashion, 25-19. Game two was neck-and-neck, but Oregon went on a 5-1 run after being tied at 20-20 to collect a 2-0 lead. It looked like we may have been going to four sets at certain points in set three, as the Ducks trailed 15-9 at one point. But Oregon rallied back to tie it at 16-16, then used a 4-0 run to win the third frame, 25-22.

Oregon hit .256 as a team and held the Beavers to a meer .148. The Ducks also dished out four service aces, which is the most since February 14th against Arizona. Brooke Nuneviller (15 kills, .200, 9 digs) led the way for Oregon throughout the match. 15 kills were the most in a sweep from the junior this season. However, she fell short of a double-double for the…

Cullen Kafka's gem leads the way for Oregon Ducks baseball

By Kent Williams

On a cloudy Saturday afternoon, the #19 Oregon Ducks(9-4) played anything but gloomy against the Arizona State Sundevils(12-4). It all started on the mound, where junior righty Cullen Kafka put together yet another spectacular pitching performance together for the Ducks pitching staff. He set or matched career highs with 7 innings pitched, 11 strikeouts on 106 pitches for his start. He also did not walk anyone or allow a run, while only giving up 4 hits. His performance today lowers his season ERA all the way down to a minuscule 0.32. Offensively, the Ducks got off to a slow start, but Kenyon Yovan got things rolling with his 6th home run of the year, this time a 2-run shot down the left field line. Later, Gabe Matthews would contribute his own 2-run home run to dead center. Other contributors include Aaron Zavala, who walked 3 times, and Sam Novitske, who drove in 2 runs.

The Ducks will look to take the series against the #23 Sundevils tomorrow…

Oregon Volleyball Wins Thriller Against Oregon State in 5 Sets

By Knight Jarecki

The first match of 2021 rivalry series between the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers volleyball teams was one for the ages as the Oregon Ducks prevailed victorious in a 5 set thriller.

The Oregon Ducks were on the court for the first time in 12 days after last weekend's series against Stanford was cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols within the Cardinal program. The match marked the Ducks 7th straight home match.

The first set was a competitive one as the Ducks edged out the Beavers in a seesaw of a set 26-24. Although the Ducks won the first set, Oregon State came out on fire in the second set dominating Oregon for a 25-19 victory. After gaining some momentum at the end of the 2nd set, Oregon was able to continue to keep the momentum in their favor as the Ducks were able to take command of the 3rd set with a 25-15 win. Oregon State was like a gnat and would not go away as the Beavs ousted the Ducks 25-21 in dominant fashion…
