WBB: Late Surge Falls Short Against Stanford
With 6:18 left in the game, Nyara Sabally hit two free throws to give Oregon their first lead of the game, which seemed far away for a team that trailed by 15 in the second quarter. Back and forth the Cardinals and Ducks went. Finally, Stanford regained the lead with 28 seconds remaining when Brink hit two free throws. Oregon called a timeout and drew up a play for a Taylor Mikesell three pointer. She missed, but Stanford's Hull missed both her free throws on the other end. The Ducks were afforded another chance, down two, to tie the ball game or shoot a three for the win. Paopao tripped and turn the ball over. Stanford escaped MKA with a 63-61 lead.
Oregon, a team that has been struggling shooting the ball as of late seemed to have found a rhythm late in the third and fourth quarters. Mikesell, Boley, and Shelley, a trio usually deadly from deep was struggling in their few games. However, on Monday night, they combined for 26 points and 5 three pointers. Mikesell led all…

On a Valentine's Sunday, the Oregon Ducks(5-2, t-3rd in Pac-12) certainly felt the love, completing a dominating sweep of the visiting Arizona Wildcats(2-5, 8th in Pac-12), 25-23, 25-13, 25-15. With a fantastic effort by the Ducks both on offense and defense, especially in the second set, Oregon was able to cruise to its fifth straight win before heading to Utah to face the top dog in the Pac-12. Brooke Nuneviller had yet another standout performance, leading the team in kills with 11, as well as digs with 12, giving her the 6th double-double of the season. But it wasn't just Nuneviller doing work for Oregon; Morgan Lewis and Gloria Mutiri both contributed 9 kills on the match, Abby Hansen had 8 blocks, quadrupling the Wildcats total as a team. Overall the team seemed very fluid and energectic throughout the game, and that showed in the second set, when the Ducks had a huge 8-0 run to really break open the floodgates.
Next up for the Ducks is…

After losing twice to the Arizona Wildcats last season, Oregon dominated the Wildcats at every turn on Friday at Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon swept Arizona by a score of 25-19, 25-17, 25-15. The first set ended up being Arizona's best effort, but they were hampered by errors and allowed Oregon to take command on 5-0 and 6-0 runs. Oregon's defense was excellent once again, holding Arizona to a .119 hitting percentage. Arizona had 9 service errors throughout the match as well. Arizona opened the third set with some life, but Oregon closed out on a 19-5 scoring run. After a quiet first set, Brooke Nuneviller shined for the Ducks. Nuneviller racked up 14 kills on a .464 hitting percentage, and led the Ducks with 16 digs. Taylor Borup was the next closest Duck with 8 kills of her own. Karson Bacon also stood out with six kills and five blocks. Oregon will hope to continue success against Arizona with a rematch on Sunday morning.
