Story: Oregon Men’s Basketball Tops UCLA 82-74 and Slides Into First Place in the Pac-12

Story by: Patrick McMahon

The Oregon men’s basketball team came out on top against UCLA 82-74 in a first place showdown at Matthew Knight Arena on Wednesday evening.

It seemed like neither defense came out of the locker room for the first half, as both teams shot over 50% from the field during that period. Even though Chris Duarte poured in 8 first half points, he struggled taking care of the ball, giving it away 3 times in that span. One person who could not be stopped early was Jules Bernard for the Bruins, as he couldn’t miss throughout the first half, putting up 15 points, and missing only 1 shot. UCLA led bro only 2 at the break, 39-37.

The second half was a tale of two runs, as UCLA went up by as many as 9 with 11 minutes to play, with Bernard adding 8 more points to his total. However, Oregon’s press and hot shooting allowed them to turn the tables on the Bruins and outscore them by 17 the rest of the way. Oregon forced 12…

Story: Oregon's Hot Shooting Downs Arizona, Improve to 17-5

One win down, two to go. The Oregon Ducks defeated the Arizona Wildcats 80-69 Monday evening in a hard-fought victory. It was the start of a three-game homestand for the Ducks, and it went as well as coach Dana Altman could've hoped.

Story: Xaiver Aguiar

The Ducks came out firing on all cylinders, hitting four of their first five triples to take an early advantage. Arizona's coach Sean Miller was infuriated by his team's play, which quickly picked up after a timeout. Arizona started exploiting their height advantage and getting to the basket at will. The Wildcat played a variation of a box-and-one defense which, stagnated Oregon's offense. That allowed Arizona to gain its first lead of the contest, but it was the only one they'd have. After an Altman timeout, Oregon had a 13-3 surge before the break to take a 40-36 lead.

The second have was all Oregon. The Duck's downtown barrage was too much for the Wildcats to handle. Shooting 12-22…

Oregon Soccer Falls 0-1 to Cal, Split the Weekend

On Sunday afternoon, the Oregon Ducks Women's soccer team hosted the California Golden Bears in a non-conference match. The Ducks came into this game after beating Pac-12 rival Stanford for the first time in program history, but surrender defeat for the first time this season after Cal’s Emma Westin scored the only goal in the game in the 71st minute.

Junior Forward Jordan Wormdhahl  spoke after the game about the team’s performance, “I think ultimately like its less what they did and more how we responded – we forced somethings that I don’t think we needed to force, and maybe got pulled away from what we tried to do originally – but ultimately, we just had to be a cohesive unit and play a little bit better.”

Early on in the first half, both teams played with good pace on the ball, pushing back and forth. At the end of the first half, the Bears and Ducks both had seven shots and two corner attempts a piece.

However, in the second half, the 14th-…

WBB | Ducks left in Beaver's wake as Senior Night is spoiled for Oregon

Written Story: Ryan Milano

The #14 Oregon Ducks drop their final regular-season game of the year to the Oregon State Beavers by a score of 88-77. The rivalry game for the Ducks started and ended on a sour note. Prior to the game Oregon guard, Te-Hina Paopao was scratched from the starting lineup due to injury, showing up to MKA in street clothes and a walking boot. It only got worse for Oregon from there as the Ducks were never able to get their footing. The game was a tight battle at halftime, but a huge OSU 10-0 run in the 3rd quarter put Oregon in a hole they never recovered from.

Oregon State held a 3-point clinic tonight. The Beavers knocked down 11 triples on a 55% clip. Six Beavers finished the contest in double digits, led by Aleah Goodman's 20 points.

There was one blinding bright spot for Oregon, Sedona Prince. She finished the day with 22 points, 18 of which coming in the first half. Three other Ducks scored in double…
