Men's Baseball: Ducks win series vs. Oregon State, Look for Sweep Sunday Afternoon
Saturday evening saw the No. 21 ranked Ducks defeat the No. 19 Oregon State Beavers at PK Park in game two of their weekend series. The Ducks defeated the Beavers on Friday night 4-1, and Saturday night, the Ducks won again, this time 5-1.
“You want to be able to win in a lot of different ways-that’s when we are a good team. The game started off with Oregon State playing aggressive in the box, and throughout the evening had opportunities with runners on base, but left a total of 12 on base. It was a struggle throughout, with the Beavers only batting .152 for the game.
Defensively for the Ducks, tonight presented opportunities…

In game 2, UCLA proved to be the much more dominant team. Makenna Kliethermes drew the start and played solid though the first 3 innings before walking 2 runners in the top of the the 4th and being pulled. Samaria Diaz, who was excellent in relief in game 1, did not have her magic stuff as she allowed 7 hits and 6 earned runs thorough her 3 1/3 innings of work. In the top of the 5th,…

It was not the type of performance that Oregon Baseball Head coach Mark Wasikowski wanted when the Portland Pilots(13-13) came into town on Tuesday afternoon as the Pilots took care of business against the hometown Ducks. Isaac Ayon got the start for the ducks but only lasted 2 ⅓ innings after giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, which was enough to credit the freshman Pitcher with his first loss of the season. Oregon struggled stopping the power hitters of the Pilots allowing Sam Brown and Chad Stevens a combined 7 hits on 10 at bats and a combined 5 RBIs.
Errors were also an issue for the Ducks today. The usually reliable 3b Kenyon Yovan could not handle a ground ball, and catcher Jack Scanlon allowed a pitch past him which gave up a run. In addition to these errors, the Ducks also committed a baserunning error when Josh Kasevich did not touch second base when returning to first after a deep Jack Scanlon flyout. Mental mistakes cost the…
