Story: Oregon dominates, sweeps San Jose State
Story by: Elias Esquivel
In what was San Jose State’s first ever trip to Eugene, the Spartans will return to California after a deflating 13-1 loss to the Oregon Ducks Wednesday afternoon. Despite a competitive outing on Tuesday, Oregon dominated the Spartans in their second match-up of the week.
Things began slow, but soon enough the Ducks came swinging. The bases were loaded in the second inning when Gavin Grant hit a double out to right field, bringing home Gabe Matthews and Sam Novitske. Anthony Hall joined the party, hitting a line drive out to right center field, earning himself a pair of RBIs and giving the Ducks a 4-0 lead after two innings.
After a couple of lifeless innings, Oregon put its foot to the gas pedal, scoring five more runs in the fifth inning. Freshman Jack Scanlon ignited his ball-club, earning his 6th RBI of the season on a sacrifice fly to bring to bring Josh Kasevich home. The hits kept coming for Oregon, as they took…

Although the sunset was just about perfect leaving PK Park Tuesday, the performance by the Ducks was not as Oregon came out victorious 11-7 against San Jose State in a game they did not play their best. Although the Ducks trailed early, Oregon was able to battle back and pick up their 5th win over the Spartans since 1964 despite playing 12 times.
Action began in the top of the second inning. San Jose State jumped out to a 1-0 lead after Reece Hernandez came out triumphant in a 9 pitch at bat, hitting an RBI groundout to score Ruben Mercado from 3rd.
The next inning the Spartan's bats were still awake as they scored 2 runs off of back to back RBI singles by Ruben Ibarra and Connor Konishi to extend their lead to 3-0 after 2 and 1/2 innings played.
The Spartans lead was short lived as the Ducks scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take the lead 5-3. The inning was highlighted by a 2RBI triple…

BSB: Ducks Fall Just Short Of UCLA Sweep in Extra Inning Loss
Oregon baseball loses game three of their three game Pac-12 series against the UCLA Bruins in extra innings.
Ducks score 1 run in each of the first two innings and took their 2-1 lead into the sixth. The Bruins took the lead back in the top half when JT Schwartz went deep for his first of two 2-run homers on the day. In the bottom half Oregon regained the lead with RBIs from Smith and Grant who helped put a 3 spot in the bottom of the sixth to lead 5-3. UCLA had a run in the seventh and eighth to tie the game and send it to extras.
The tenth inning proved to be the most exciting and the difference. In the top half, JT Schwartz went yard again, this time off Oregon's flame thrower Hunter Breault. They took a 7-6 lead into the bottom half.
Gabe Matthews started the rally with a gap two-bagger. A coughed-up ball to the shortstop, which would have ended the game allowed the pinch-hitting Bellafronto to reach base safely and put runners on the corners.…

It wasn't the prettiest weather or game for Oregon Softball as they hung on for a 7-4 victory on Saturday afternoon in sluggish weather conditions. The win give the Ducks their 30th win of the season.
Stanford got out ahead early scoring 3 runs in their first 3 trips to the plate. The lead didn't last long as in the bottom half of the 3rd inning, Oregon exploded for 6 runs to claim the lead and never looked back. The inning was highlighted by a 2RBI single by Rachel Cid and a 2RBI Double by Allee Bunker.
Oregon added another run in the 6th inning and Stanford added a run in the 7th but the damage had already been done as the Ducks held on for the 7-4 victory.
Brooke Yanez was the winning pitcher for the Ducks. She picked 6.0 innings allowed 4 runs with only 1 run being earned. Haley Cruse had a great showing offensively registering 3 hits on 4 at bats as well as a stolen base and run. Rachel Cid also did…
