FB | Oregon Wins Ugly in Seattle Downpour 26-16

Written Story: Ryan Milano

#4 Oregon traveled down to Seattle and achieved a 26-16 victory over Washington. A rivalry matchup against the Huskies always has bad blood for Oregon, but coming into this game a little extra fuel was added to the fire. Oregon took Washington's spot in the Pac-12 title last season and Washington head coach Jimmy Lake questioned Oregon's "academic prowess" early in the week.

The Huskies jumped out as the aggressor early. Carson Bruener intercepted Anthony Brown on the opening possession and set up Washington for an early TD. The Huskies continued to dominate on defense and special teams in the early going as punter Race Porter pinned two punts at the Oregon 1-yard-line. One of which ended in a safety to give UW a 9-3 lead.

The problem for the Huskies? Their offense couldn't get anything going. Headed into the 4th quarter, Oregon had only allowed three first downs. The Ducks stifling defense set up the offense with good field position and plenty of opportunities. Oregon was able to steal the lead 10-9 prior to the half after Brown found Devon Williams for a 33-yard touchdown strike and never looked back.

The rain became a major factor in the socind half. Oregon turned to the ground game and dominated the line of scrimmage. Oregon rushed for 329 yards on the ground and two touchdowns: one by Brown and the other by Travis Dye. Dye also accounted for 211 years in what has been a string of career games for him.

After the Touchdowns, Oregon held a 24-9 lead. A late touchdown by Washington made things interesting, but Oregon was able to put the brakes on a comeback effort and rolled to a 26-16 win.

The #4 Ducks will be back in action Saturday, November 13th vs Washington State with monemumental Pac-12 North implications.
