For the first time in Head Coach Mike White's 9 year tenure, Oregon softball's pitching staff breezed through the entire regional tournament without allowing a run. Sophomore right hander Miranda Elish went 7 complete innings striking out 11 Drake Bulldogs and allowing only 6 hits en route to a 3-0 win for Oregon. The Ducks were hitless through three innings, but had six hits in the fourth and fifth innings. Those 6 hits led to 3 runs, all of which came in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded and 1 out in the fifth, Alexis Mack blooped a single over the third baseman and shortstop's heads to bring in Cherish Burks and Mia Camuso. In the same inning, Haley Cruse drove in Jenna Lilley with an RBI single up the middle. With this win, Oregon advances to their ninth consecutive super regional and awaits their opponent. The Ducks and El Tri battled it out for 90 minutes in front of roughly 1,000 fans, most of which were cheering for Mexico. The Ducks win over Mexico concludes their spring schedule as Oregon looks to head into the fall season and clinch the program's first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. No. 1 Oregon defeats Albany 4-0 in Game 2 of the NCAA Regionals Thursday evening at Jane Saunders Stadium. Ducks road the hot hand of Miranda Elish who tossed 14 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched. This brought her strikeout total to 210 on her season and 471 as a team; which is a new Oregon team record. Offensively for Oregon, DJ Sanders started the scoring in the bottom of the third with a RBI single to bring Alexis Mack to score. That 1-0 score stayed the same until the bottom of the fifth when Jenna Lilley scored off a wild pitch to increase the lead to 2-0. Lauren Burke made a name for herself in her first career NCAA regional game when she pinched hit for Shannon Rhodes. Burke hit a 2 run home run off of Albany starter Celeste Verdoilvo to right field to make the score 4-0. That was all the offense the Ducks needed as Elish finished the game with 2 more strikeouts in the seventh that brought her total to 14 on the day. Fresh off of their first sweep since 2016, Oregon baseball is looking to carry their momentum into a road series with #18 UCLA this weekend. The Ducks still appear to be on the outside looking in at the NCAA Tournament, but with six games left in the regular season, could still climb as high as third place in the PAC-12 standings.
