Oregon Beats Utah 13-1 Behind Mercer's Career Game
Oregon pitcher Matt Mercer set a career high in strikeouts with 10 as the Ducks win 13-1 in Game 2 versus Utah Saturday afternoon. The Ducks got on the board early from a sac fly single from Kenyon Yovan to bring Jakob Goldfarb in to score. Utah eventually responded in the fourth by tying the game 1-1 off a sac fly from Utah’s Davis Delorefice. To start the fifth, Mercer gave up a single to Shea Kramer before fanning 3 straight Utah batters. Those strikeouts added up to 10 on the day for Mercer which was a new career high. Mercer got run support from the Ducks in the seventh with Yovan’s RBI single, DeLuca’s RBI single and Matthew’s 2 RBI triple. Soderman finished off the seventh with an RBI single of his own to make the score 7-1 Oregon. But the scoring continued in the eighth when Matthews hits again for an RBI Double. Drees pinch hit for Nelson and adds a 2 RBI double to push the score to 13-1 Ducks. That would be the final score as Kafka came in close the game. Oregon improves to… Read More
SB: Ducks Win Pac-12 Title With 2-0 Win in Berkeley
No. 2 Oregon Softball took the outright Pac-12 title Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win, sweeping no. 24 Cal largely behind the efforts of a sophomore class that fell short of the title last year. Starting pitcher Maggie Balint went three scoreless innings before fellow sophomore Miranda Elish closed the shutout and earned the win. Offensively, Mia Camuso provided the runs, mashing a 2 RBI single to center field in the fourth inning against Cal starter Kamalani Dung. Despite holding Oregon to those two runs, the fewest the Ducks have scored since April 15 in a 4-0 loss at Arizona State, Dung was tagged with the loss. The win moves Oregon to 47-7 on the year, and the team's 21-3 conference record is just enough to beat out no. 1 UCLA's 20-4 conference numbers, giving the program its fifth Pac-12 crown in six seasons. After the title, the Ducks await their draw in the Regionals, which will be announced on Sunday, May 13 at 7PM. The Regionals will begin on Friday, May 18.

BSB | Yovan Leads Oregon to 6-2 Victory in Series Opener with Utah
Oregon opened their three-game series with Utah with a 6-2 victory at home on Friday night thanks to a huge game from starting pitcher and clean-up batter Kenyon Yovan. The Utes struck first in the series after an Oliver Dunn triple brought DaShawn Keirsey Jr., who had walked to start the inning, around in the third. The Ducks continued their dismal offensive performance that saw them lose 10-0 to Oregon State on Tuesday through the first three innings, including a third frame that saw Utah starter Tanner Thomas strike out the side. That ended in the bottom of the fourth, when Yovan took matters into his own hands and crushed a two-run home-run over the left field wall to give Oregon the 2-1 lead. Jakob Goldfarb drew a bases-loaded walk later in the inning to push the lead to 3-1 and the Ducks would make Thomas's outing difficult the rest of the way, finally forcing Utah to make a change to Jacob Rebar in the sixth, where the Ducks would add another run thanks to a RBI… Read More

SB: Oregon Clinches Share of Pac-12 Title in 8-3 Victory Over Cal
Powered by two home runs from two seniors, no. 2 Oregon Softball clinched at least a share of the Pac-12 title on Friday afternoon with a come-from-behind 8-3 win over Cal. The Bears struck first, tacking on a single run against Megan Kleist in the fourth after she posted nine straight outs to start the game. Oregon continued a power-packed weekend in the next frame, though, as left fielder Alexis Mack singled in right fielder Haley Cruse before senior catcher Gwen Svekis hammered a three-run shot to left center. Cal responded by clawing two runs across in the bottom half of the fifth, in part due to poor defending by the Ducks. With Oregon just leading by a run, the team bounced back in the sixth, led by a towering DJ Sanders three-run homer to left. Kleist closed out the game to clinch the series win, and to set up the Ducks for the outright Pac-12 crown. At 46-7 overall and 20-3 in conference, Oregon needs just a win tomorrow or a loss out of UCLA in their next two games against… Read More

SB: Dominant Offense Powers Ducks Past Bears in 13-0 Win
No. 2 Oregon Softball extended its winning streak to 11 and moved a step closer to the conference title with its resounding 13-0 victory at no. 24 Cal Thursday afternoon. The Ducks started relatively slowly offensively, scratching a run across in the first frame and going down 1-2-3 in the second. However, that started a streak of four straight innings with runs scored by the squad, capped off a seven-run sixth inning that saw the Ducks bat around and square up three home runs. Big flies for DJ Sanders, April Utecht, and Lauren Lindvall highlighted the 15 hits put up by the Ducks, and contrasted strongly with the two hits starting pitcher Miranda Elish allowed. Elish went six full innings, striking out three in a scoreless performance for her 18th complete game in 19 starts. Oregon moves to 45-7 with the win, and is now just two games away from guaranteeing at least a share of the conference title. The series will continue on Friday at 3PM from Levine-Fricke Field before concluding on… Read More
