WBB PREVIEW: Ducks look to play spoiler vs. USC amidst disappointing season

By Liam Baker

The 2024 season has not gone as planned for the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks (11-14, 2-10 Pac-12) will likely finish under .500 for the first time since Kelly Graves' first season as the head coach when then finished 13-17 in the 2014-2015 season. The Ducks have lost seven in a row, with six coming against teams ranked in the top 20. Unfortunately for Oregon, the road doesn't get any easier as they welcome likely WBCA Freshman of the Year JuJu Watkins and #10 USC (18-4, 8-4 Pac-12) to town on Friday night. The Trojans defeated the Ducks 68-54 in Los Angeles in early January in a game in which USC pulled away late, and the Ducks will be looking to get revenge and put a damper on what has been a dream season so far for the Trojans.

The Ducks are at the end of a grueling stretch of seven straight games against ranked opponents but will be glad to be back on home soil where they have had more success this season. The Ducks…

OREGON MTEN PREVIEW: Can the Ducks stay hot?

By Alan Babadzhanov

EUGENE, Ore. - Coming off dominant wins against Nevada and Seattle, the Oregon Ducks Men's Tennis Team (7-2) is hot, and looks to keep up the momentum against the Nebraska Cornhuskers (6-3) and the Portland State Vikings (2-2). The Ducks are sitting comfortably at 2nd in the Pac-12 and are looking to stay there. Coaching for his 18th season, Nils Schyllander is looking to pick up another two wins to add to his impressive 228-164 career record with the Men's Tennis Team after being the Women's Team Head Coach from 2004-2006.

The Ducks are led by #93-ranked Quinn Vandecasteele and 5th-year David Cierny who are the #1 and #2 singles players for the Ducks. Vandecasteele is 3-3 on the season in his singles matches. The doubles pair featuring Vandecasteele and Sophomore Matthew Burton are ranked the #31 doubles pair in the nation with their 3-2 record. This is a young Oregon Ducks team in which four out of the six singles players…

Campbell/Cartier Classic Preview: Oregon Softball on the road once again

By Tayten Torgrimson

Queue up, “On the Road Again” by Willie Nelson because No. 14 Oregon Softball is continuing the early season trip from February 16th through the 18th in San Diego, CA. On Monday, outfielder Ariel Carlson received Pac-12 Player of the Week honors. Carlson is currently second on the team batting average wise, hitting .500, only trailing Kai Luschar who is batting .550. Carlson also posted two home runs and ten runs batted in. I think something that will come out in this tournament is how this team battles fatigue. Plane trips, back-to-back games, and five games in three days will be a tough test.

Games 1 and 5 vs Texas A&M: Fri, Feb 16 @ 10 A.M and Sat, Feb 18 @ 10 A.M.

Oregon

To win these games, Oregon must play a complete seven innings. Texas A&M started the season hot at 4-0 with only one game going the full seven innings due to the mercy rule…

MBB RECAP: Ducks Drop to Third Place After Loss to Cougars

By Ty Goss

Set to square off in a pivotal battle for 2nd place in the PAC-12, Oregon and Washington State were well aware of the implications of victory. This would be their second matchup of the year, with Oregon winning their first bout 89-84.

Suffering from a litany of injuries, the Ducks were short-staffed, being forced to run an eight-man rotation. Washington State would be forced to employ a similar strategy, essentially running a six-man rotation.

In the beginning of the first half, the game showed early signs of being a fierce duel as each team matched each other, bucket for bucket. At the 10:00-minute mark, Oregon trailed Washington State by one point following a contested layup by Jermaine Couisnard.

The Cougars would answer with a six-point run over the next minute, a run that would set the tone for the rest of the half. Oregon would fight back to end the half strong, riding a six-point scoring wave to close the deficit to…
