It’s now March, and that means it’s time for the most exciting part of the year: postseason basketball. With the amount of talent in the Pac-12 this year (two ranked teams didn’t even get a bye), this tournament has a pretty good chance of being the most exciting of all 32 conference tournaments. Let’s preview the first-round matchups:

No. 5 Colorado vs No. 12 Oregon (3/6, 12 p.m.)

Oregon (11-20, 2-16 Pac-12)

Coming into the Pac-12 Tournament with a program-record 13-game losing streak, the Oregon Ducks take the unenviable spot of being the 12th and last seed. The Ducks are led by their big three of guard Chance Gray, forward Grace VanSlooten, and center Phillipena Kyei. Each is averaging over 12 points per game this season. Forward Kennedy Basham has also been a bright spot, averaging 11.5 points over the Ducks’ last three games. The team’s main struggle, however, has been from the lack of bench scoring…

On a cold, rainy Sunday, Oregon hosted the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos for the last game of a three game series. After falling in the first two games by scores of 6-1 and 7-3, Oregon would bounce back to salvage a game in the series, defeating the Gauchos 16-9.

The game started off just as a reflection of the past two – not great for the Ducks. Oregon (7-3) starter Kevin Seitter led a strong first inning, with three strikeouts and just one walk from Gaucho (5-5) catcher Brendan Durfee. He struck Justin Trimble out looking to put a quick end to the top of the first. On the opposing end, Ryan Gallagher walked Justin Cassella, Jeffery Heard and Bennett Thompson to load the bases with two outs. Unfortunately for Oregon, Anson Aroz fouled a ball high behind home plate, and Durfee caught it to end the first inning with a score of 0-0.

The Ducks played UC Santa Barbra today in the first of a three game series. The Ducks were looking for the win as they went into the game on a 4 game win streak after sweeping Lafayette in their home opener. However things wouldn't go as planned as Oregon would lose 6-1.

Things started almost instantly as in the first inning UCSB had their first 3 batters get on base. This was followed by a sac-fly and back to back errors giving the Gauchos an early 3-0 lead. Oregon tried to respond in full as 2 quick outs was followed by 3 straight singles, however things would fall short as 3rd baseman Drew Smith tried to extend the play but would be caught trying to go home by UCSB RF J. Sebring. Oregon's offense would continue to struggle, but it wasn't long before Santa Barbra would get back on the board as in the 3rd, 2nd basemen Nick Oakley would hit a bases loaded sac-fly bringing home one more run.
