Underdog Oregon soccer battles No. 5 Michigan State to a 0-0 draw
Oregon Soccer (5-8-1, 1-5-1 Big Ten) took on the No. 5 ranked Michigan State (9-0-5, 4-0-3 Big Ten) for its penultimate home match of the season. The Ducks met and even exceeded the Spartans’ intensity and were able to keep Michigan State scoreless for the first time this season in a 0-0 draw.
It was a brisk evening at Papé Field but the Spartans came out of the gates hot. Michigan State's Sofia Beerworth got a shot off from inside the 18-yard box in the first minute. The ball just barely skied over the crossbar. After that Oregon cleaned up its defense and even held control of the ball for most of the first 10 minutes.
In the 12th minute, Oregon had its best scoring opportunity. Lauren Kenny attempted a shot off of a crosser from Hailey McWhirter. However, it sailed mere inches to the right of the goalpost. Oregon's intensity never fizzled out.

The Ducks never go quietly into the night, it’s in their DNA. Wednesday night at Matthew Knight Arena proved just that. After pulling away in set one for a 25-18 point victory, the No. 11 Ducks struggled to put the No. 16 Trojans away in the second set. The score was neck and neck with the largest lead on either side reaching two points — until kills from both Ally Batenhorst and Adonia Faumuina, combined with an attacking error from Oregon middle blocker Colby Neal, put USC ahead 22-19.
They were just three points away from tying the match at one set apiece. Oregon head coach Matt Ulmer called a timeout to gather his team, one that would prove to snap his players into action.
Out of the timeout, USC’s Jadyn Livings committed a service error that brought a little bit of life to Matthew Knight Arena. On the next point, a long rally ended in an attacking error from USC’s Faumuina to cut the score to 22-21 and force a Trojans’…

No. 11 Oregon volleyball moves to 12-2 overall after a dominant three-set shutout against the No. 16 USC Trojans. Last week the Ducks were shut out (0-3) at Penn State for their first conference loss of the season.
“It was really important for us to bounce back after Penn State,” head coach Matt Ulmer said. And bounce back they did.
Set 1 was neck and neck throughout until the Ducks pulled away at the 18-18 mark. Outside hitter Mimi Colyer racked up three kills to lead the charge, accompanied by errors made by the Trojans to go on a seven straight point tirade to win the set 25-18.
Set 2 was another stalemate. The Trojans led by as much as three, thanks to dominant kills at the net from USC’s Ally Batenhorst. The outside hitter notched five kills in the second set, accompanied by four from fellow outside hitter Jadyn Livings.
But that performance couldn’t fend off the Ducks. With the set…

The Ducks take care of Michigan State in their first Big Ten home game
The lights shone brightly over Autzen Stadium on Friday night as the undefeated Oregon Ducks hosted the Michigan State Spartans in their first-ever Big Ten home matchup. The atmosphere was electric, setting the stage for a thrilling contest.
Oregon's start was shaky, as it opened the game with a quick three-and-out. Michigan State seized the opportunity, orchestrating a 65-yard drive that brought it to the 1-yard line. However, the Ducks' defense rose to the occasion, forcing quarterback Aidan Chiles to fumble just inches from the goal line, and Oregon recovered.
Despite the defensive heroics, the Ducks’ offense struggled once again. On their next drive, quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw a red zone interception to Malik Spencer, throwing away the scoring opportunity. Oregon’s defense remained dominant, and although Gabriel took a hard hit on the following drive that caused him to sit out a play, he was able to regroup and finally put Oregon…

The sky was light gray, rain falling from the sky and the wind gusty, four hours before kickoff at Autzen Stadium. As the rain, storm clouds and wind began to fade, a sea of yellow fell upon the seats at Autzen. That sea of yellow was no sunshine — it was the sea of fans flooding in repping all yellow for Stomp out Cancer, with the Ducks wearing their new Hero’s uniform. Friday night the Ducks did all their stomping out on the field as they went to shut down Michigan State University 31-10.
After tough performances against Boise State and Idaho, many wondered if the Ducks defense could handle the expectations this year. There were huge reactions from fans about the 37-34 win over Boise State and tons of concern the defense wouldn’t perform in the Big Ten. The Ducks defense sent all those doubts down the pond with their monstrous win over Michigan State University.
For the first time in a while here at Autzen, the Ducks defensive…
