MBB: Behind Second Half Surge Oregon Pulls Away From Washington State
The Oregon Men’s Basketball team defeated Washington State Sunday night 78-58. In a matchup of two teams looking to climb their way up the Pac-12 standings, Oregon was able to pull away in the second half.
Oregon started the game with Richardson at point guard, with Pritchard at shooting guard to try and create some more offense for the Ducks. However, it was Washington State that started off strong, hitting 10 of their first 12 shots from the field. Robert Franks, a senior, lead the way for WSU, with 15 points in the first half. Even though WSU shot 77% from the field in the first half, Oregon was able to keep pace, despite only connecting on just under 50% of their shots. During the first half Payton Pritchard dished out his third assist of the game en-route to becoming the 6th member of the 1,000 point and 400 assist club at Oregon. At the end of the first half, Louis King and Paul White had 9 and 8 points respectively, while Kenny Wooten had 6 points and a block.…

Both teams relied heavily on the three ball with NCU putting up 35 in total and Evergreen State putting up 16. Despite a slow start to the second half the Beacons stayed ahead to secure the victory. MBB: Oregon Experiences Heartbreak Against Rival Washington
In the most heartbreaking way possible, the Washington Huskies get their first win in Eugene since 2010 beating Oregon 61-56. With 19 seconds remaining and the score tied at 56, Dana Altman called a timeout to draw up a potentially game winning shot. That play never happened. Instead with 3 seconds left, Junior Payton Pritchard slipped and turned the ball over Washington's David Crisp picked it up and was heading the other way. In a half court heave attempt, Pritchard caught Crisp's right arm and sent him to the free throw line to shoot three free throws, The rest was history, Crisp made all three free throws and Washington went on to win the game.

No. 5 Oregon women's basketball looks to remain perfect in Pac-12 play as the Ducks take its 10-game win streak on the road to Washington for two road games this weekend. Oregon (17-1, 6-0) meets Washington State (7-11, 2-5) on Friday in Pullman for its lone matchup with the Cougars on the year. It will be a challenging test for Washington State, which is coming off an 0-2 road trip to the Bay Area and boasts the conference's worst scoring defense. In head coach Kelly Graves' tenure, the Ducks are 3-0 in Pullman and blew out the Cougars in Eugene 98-58 on on January 6th. Oregon will face another rematch when the Ducks play Washington (8-11, 1-6) on Sunday in Seattle. Oregon defeated the Huskies 84-71 in Eugene on January 4th, a win in which Erin Boley scored a career-high 28 points on another career-best eight three-pointers.
