WSOC: Oregon Soccer Wins in Dramatic Fashion to Give Kat Mertz 100th Career Win
Oregon Soccer remains undefeated at Pape Field after taking down Buffalo 2-1 in overtime. With the win, Kat Mertz picked up her 100th career victory as a head coach. Oregon had to fight back to force overtime after Buffalo Forward Marcy Barberic put a penalty kick past Katelyn Carter in the first half. The Ducks out-shot the Bulls 25-5, 13 of those strikes forcing a save from keeper Emily Kelly. Oregon got even with Buffalo in the 63rd minute when Zoe Hasenauer headed home her third goal of the season from a corner. The Ducks played a double-overtime last week against Portland and it was looking that way again until Emma Eddy scored the game-winner with one minute left to go in the first overtime period. Eddy's goal puts the Ducks at 4-1-3 on the season going into conference play.
