Oregon's offense looks to take advantage of an injury-plagued defense. Meanwhile the Ducks defense prepares for what could be the most prolific offense they have seen this season.

Oregon Volleyball lost in three sets (25-14, 25-18, 25-21) at home to #19 Cal. The Golden Bears set the intensity early with an 11-1 run in the middle of the first set to propel them to a dominant set one victory. In set two, the Bears strung off 5 straight points to go up 11-6 and never looked back, going up 2-0. The last set was more competitive but Cal kept its position in the drivers seat throughout, finishing the Ducks in three sets. Oregon was held to a .135 hitting percentage for the match. Willow Johnson was the only attacker with double-digit kills (10 kills, .400, 12 digs). Brooke Nuneviller was limited to 7 kills and .190, but led the way defensively with 13 digs. It wasn't an ideal Pac-12 home opener for the Ducks, but took home a 17-7 victory behind a 17-0 second half. The Ducks started the game plunging down the field with CJ Verdell and Travis Dye, but that drive was abrupted by Justin Herbert's first INT of the season. Cal stormed down the field behind two big throws from QB Devon Modster, including a 22 yard Pass TD to RB Christopher Brown. Oregon's struggles continued in the first half, as Travis Dye fumbled the ball twice to squander major scoring opportunities. Dye saw extra time as Verdell went down with a right leg injury.
