VB | The Ducks fall to the Washington State Cougars in emotional fashion
It was an emotional Sunday evening in Matthew Knight Arena as the Oregon Ducks fell to the #24 Washington State Cougars. It was an emotional game for the Ducks as this loss mathematically eliminates them from postseason contention and spoiled their tournament hopes. It was a game of runs for both sides as both teams scored points in bunches with seemingly little the opponent could do to stop them. Ultimately it was the stellar serving of Washington State which led them to victory over a Ducks squad that struggled early, but looked to be fighting back in the match. The Ducks dropped the first two sets after a back and fourth first set went the way of Washington State and a dominant second set by the Cougars. However, the third set was all Oregon as they jumped out to an early lead and kept it going as they would bounce back from a poor second set and win 25-16. The match got very dramatic at the end of the fourth set as Washington State went on a huge run late to put the Cougars up…

Tonight the Oregon Ducks faced off against the 1-0 Boise State Broncos. The Ducks pulled out the win in dominant fashion, much to the delight of a somewhat lackluster Saturday night crowd in Matthew Knight Arena. Matthew Knight Arena was packed to the walls for a basketball game, but it was the women in white and green who drew the large crowd as they upset Team USA 93 to 86. Handing the women in red, white and blue their first loss to a college team since 1999. Once the crowd thinned out and the men’s game began, it was clear that the Boise State Broncos were outgunned by the talented Ducks. Boise State brought experience to the table, returning their top 4 scorers from a season ago, but that was about all the Broncos brought to the table. Sparked by the hot shooting hand of Anthony Mathis and the seasoned command of Payton Pritchard, the Ducks cruised out to a 48-30 lead at the half.

11,530 fans at Matthew Knight Arena erupted several times in Saturday nights exhibition but none louder than the cheers at the final horn legitimizing the Ducks 93-86 win over Team USA. Oregon did something no college has done in two decades, taking down Team USA. In the first half Team USA often flirted with taking the game out of reach for the Ducks with their largest lead being 11, but Oregon's late first-half push was enough to bring them within four at the half, only down 42-38.
Kelly Graves called the notion of beating Team USA "delusional" less than a week ago but the Ducks three stars made the improbable victory possible in the second-half. Star senior guard Sabrina Ionesco had just five points in the opening half but in the closing 20 minutes, she was white-hot, finishing with 30 points on 8-13 shooting, including a three-pointer from the logo as time was expiring on the shot clock. Satou Sabally hit a trio of impressive threes, two of which came deep into the fourth…

VB | The Ducks drop to rival Huskies in a clean sweep
Playing a late match on Thursday against the 14th ranked Washington Huskies, the Oregon Ducks(7-15, 3-10 Pac-12) lost in 3 sets to their northern rivals, 25-19, 26-24, then finally 25-20 in the deciding set. With tonight's loss, Oregon has now lost 5 of their last 6 matches and are now 4-4 on the year while playing in Eugene.
Some standouts for the Ducks were Karson Bacon and Ronika Stone; Bacon compiled 6 kills and 4 blocks to go with a fantastic .545 hit percentage. Stone also put together some great numbers, with a team-leading 11 kills to go with 8 digs and a service ace. Despite the performance of those two, Oregon could not put together much of an offensive attack. As a team they only managed a .206 hit percentage, and struggled to get the close calls, something that Washington was able to do.
The Ducks play their next game in Eugene on Sunday against another Washington team, this time the #24 Wazzu Cougars. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 pm.…

Oregon's Thursday night game against the Oregon State Beavers went the same as the past two matches, a 1-0 loss. Oregon made the hour trip up north to Paul Lorenz Field but didn't have a goal to show for it, making it five games in a row without a goal in the state of Oregon. It was senior night for OSU and senior Paula Leblic won it for the Beavers with a beauty of a free kick in the 87th minute from just outside the box. Oregon finishes the season with a record of 5-9-5 while OSU will have their fate decided by the selection committee after an impressive 11-6-2 season under first-year head coach Matt Kagan. The Duck players will have time off but for Manny Martins and Kat Mertz, the focus shifts to recruiting and making progress before the spring season.
