Facing a Tigers team that started with 5 freshmen, the Ducks experienced lineup gave them an edge, as the team was led by senior Shakur Juiston, who put together his first double-double with the team with 17 points and 10 rebounds, leading the team in both categories. He also contributed three assists and two steals, building off his solid performance in the Boise State game.

Memphis put together the top recruiting class in the nation, including the top recruit in center James Wiseman. The Ducks managed to limit WIseman by forcing two early fouls in the first half, which limited his minutes and kept him off the court mostly until crunch time in the second half.
