The Oregon Ducks lost a heartbreaking thriller on senior night against the USC Trojans 70-69 Saturday night at Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon and the 16th ranked team in the country went back and forth throughout the entire game with neither team able to maintain a big lead. USC would jump out in front by 12 points late in the first half, but Oregon stormed back to take the lead by halftime. The Ducks and Trojans would go back and forth throughout the second half, with Isaiah Mobley and Drew Peterson carrying the load offensively for USC and Oregon getting scoring contributions from five different players. Oregon went into the final minute of the game leading 66-65 before an Isaiah Mobley hook shot would give USC the lead. Quincy Guerrier responded with a three to put Oregon up by 2 with 25 seconds left, but then Drew Peterson knocked down a three pointer to put USC up one with 14 seconds left. The Ducks took down the Bruins 68-63 in a wild one that almost slipped away from Oregon in the final minutes. The hype was real facing #12 ranked UCLA coming into Matthew Knight Arena Thursday night. Coming off a tough stretch for the Ducks, a win at home vs. a ranked opponent was what this team was looking for. The Ducks put in a solid performance on both ends to secure the victory.
To start off the game, both teams were trading buckets, with Oregon taking a couple of 5 point leads in the early going. Ducks guard De’Vion Harmon led the Ducks with 8 points in the first half, with UCLA guard Tyger Campbell leading the Bruins with 10 of his own. UCLA didn’t shoot great in the opening half but was able to keep it close at the break as Oregon committed 12 turnovers in the first half, shooting themselves in the foot at times.
