PREVIEW: Ducks Are Looking to Get Their First Win of The Season Against Utah

The Oregon Ducks will face off against the Utah Utes at home tomorrow on October 1, 2023, at 1 PM PST. The Ducks have a record of 0-8-2, while the Utes sit at 4-3-4. Utah’s head coach is Hideki Nakada, who is in his third season at the helm. Oregon’s head coach is Graeme Abel, who is in his fourth year as the head coach of the Ducks. Abel’s overall head coaching record at Oregon is 19-18-18. Utah is coming off of a 2-2 tie against Oregon State last Thursday. Oregon on the other hand are looking to bounce back from their 1-3 defeat against the Colorado Buffaloes the other day on Thursday, September 28th. The Ducks are currently on a two game losing streak.

EUGENE, Ore - This weekend, the #9 Oregon Ducks will travel to The Farm in Palo Alto, California, and face off with the 1-4 Stanford Cardinal.
The Ducks head into the Saturday matchup as an undefeated team, with Oregon sporting wins over Portland State, Texas Tech, Hawaii, and Colorado. Oregon is coming off an impressive and dominant win over the then #19 ranked Buffaloes. The Ducks held a 35-0 lead going into the half and Colorado only had 31 yards from scrimmage on six drives that ended in six punts. That game ended 42-6 as Colorado scored a garbage-time touchdown with less than three minutes remaining in the game. Oregon looks to continue their dominance in their second game in conference play. After two clean sweeps in a row, the No. 6 Oregon Ducks Women's Volleyball team (12-1, 2-0 PAC-12) is preparing for yet another rivalry game against the University of Washington (9-4, 0-2 PAC-12) in what is sure to be a thriller. The Ducks are currently on a roll winning, twelve of thirteen matches so far this season and have swept the last three teams they have played (Marquette, Oregon State, and UCLA). The team dominance is being spearheaded by several players including Mimi Colyer, last year's PAC-12 Freshman of the Year, and Karson Bacon, who was just awarded PAC-12 Defensive Player of the Week. Bacon averaged two blocks a set during last weekend's matches against OSU and UCLA. Having not lost a home game since 2021, the Ducks are looking very good to keep the streak alive.

Bushnell has started strong with a 9-4 record overall. In Cascade Collegiate Conference play, they are 7-2. The team managed to win in their last match against Oregon Tech, this win could boost their confidence against the College of Idaho on Friday. Speaking of winning, when Bushnell previously played against COI, they won 3-0. The Beacons have proven they can beat the Yotes and know they can do so again. This is thanks to the reliability in scoring from #20 Matty Ladd, with 77 kills, followed closely by #6 Halle Neumann, with 71 kills (in conference play). In conference play, services aces have been led by #3 Bella Parque, with 13 garnered, and #7 Amyah Semau with 11.
