The Ducks Take Game Two Against Stanford in a Back and Forth Defensive Battle

Audio and Written Story by Wilder Lewis

The Ducks needed a win today against #7 Stanford is they wanted to still have a chance to win the series as yesterday they dropped game one against the Cardinal 1-3 in a extra inning thriller. Today's game had more of the same in the since that it was a back and forth defensive battle between the two teams. However Oregon in the end was able to make it out on top and take the game 2-1, here is how it happened.

Stanford got things going early off the rip as the first batter of the game
Gindlesperger got a single. Later on in the inning Kaneshiro had a single as well allowing Gindlesperger to advance to 3rd. She then went on to eventually score from 3rd on an error from Allee Bunker. The Ducks would be able to get out of the inning only allowing the one unearned run which would be Stanford's only run of the day. However the lead wouldn't last for long as in the bottom of the 1st the Ducks would get one right back…

No. 19 Ducks Drop Home Opener to Cardinal but Show Plenty to Look Forward to

By Dylan Farrell

EUGENE — No. 19 Oregon (18-7, 1-3) opened its first home series against No. 7 Stanford (23-2, 1-0) on Friday, and the Ducks looked like a completely different team than they did last weekend against Washington. Oregon put out a strong defensive performance, allowing just one run through seven innings of regulation play against a Stanford team that averages over five runs per game. Stanford’s bullpen will likely not allow the Ducks to put up 7-8 run performances like Washington did. Oregon ultimately fell to Stanford 3-1 in extra innings, but the team held its own against a very strong opponent. Oregon will need more of that defense to succeed later this weekend, but the offense will need to step up to give it a chance.

“I think it’s nice to keep runs off the board, because that puts less pressure on our offense,” Oregon second base Allee Bunker said postgame. “Today we did keep those runs off the board until the eighth, and we just need to be…

SB Preview: #19 Oregon takes on #7 Stanford in home series opener

By: Ian Sutliff

It’s a huge weekend ahead for both the Ducks and Cardinal as PAC-12 play continues for Oregon at Jane Sanders Stadium on Friday. For the Ducks, they’ll be looking to win their first home series against another top-10 team in conference play. Oregon is 4-3 versus ranked teams and has a chance to improve that mark against Stanford who is currently on a 20-game win streak.

The Ducks are led by their two seniors, Terra McGowan and Allee Bunker. McGowan leads the team in home runs with eight after hitting just 11 in her first three seasons for Oregon. On top of that, the redshirt senior is batting .367 with a .722 slugging percentage while going 13-22 (.591) with four homers and 12 RBIs over her last seven games. MBB: Ducks earn redemption win against UC Irvine in First Round of NIT; will advance to face UCF on Sunday

Written By: Alex Davis

The Oregon Ducks had much to prove on Wednesday night as they faced off against UC Irvine, the team that had bested them at Matthew Knight Arena last November. In the first outing the Ducks allowed UC Irvine standout guard, DJ Davis to score 24 points, shooting 8 of 17 from the field. His fellow guard, scored 11 points, shooting 5 of 9 from the field. The Anteaters also shot 42% from the 3-point range in their dominating 13 point win over Oregon. The Ducks struggled mightily in this contest, shooting only 19% from 3 point range and allowing the Anteaters to score 25 points off turnovers.

In tonight's contest during the NIT Tournament, the Ducks seemed to still have a chip on their shoulder and seeked redemption for their early season loss. Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman emphasized that this game was just as important as if the Ducks were playing in the NCAA Tournament. And the Ducks responded with a commanding win against UC Irvine,…
