BSB | Pitching Struggles Continue, Ducks Blown Out for a Second Straight Night.

Written Story By Wilder Lewis

The Oregon Ducks faced off against the Washington Huskies in the second game of three in their final home series. Coming off of their defeat last night (14-5) the Ducks were looking to get back on a winning path ahead of Sunday's game. However, things didn’t really start out well for the Ducks as Washington ripped off 9 runs in the first inning as all of their batters scored.

The Huskies were able to do this as they hit 4 straight singles off of Jackson Pace. This was followed by a batter being hit, two doubles, a walk, and an error. Eventually, the Huskies were up by seven with one left on base, and without even getting one out Pace’s night was done and Spoljaric came in to replace him. After giving up a two-run homer to the 9th batter of the night, DeCarlo. Spoljaric was able to get the 3 outs, sending cheers through the PK Park stands.

Oregon then got their chance to try and return some runs but…

Oregon Baseball Struggles Continue in Final Home Series vs Washington

By Ben McGrath

Eugene OR, –  The #24 Oregon Ducks head into their final home series of the year against PNW rival the Washington Huskies. The Ducks look to revive their season after dropping four out of their last 5 games. Meanwhile Washington looks to keep their hot streak alive winning 8 out of their last 9.

The Huskies started quick with a deep homer to left field from Gianluca Shinn. The Ducks responded in the 2nd with a two run homer from Josiah Cromwick making it his 7th homerun on the year. After the second, the Huskies bats were on fire with 7 combined runs through the 3rd and 4th while keeping the Ducks scoreless.

The hitting struggles continued for the Ducks as they went scoreless for the next 6 straight innings and wrapping the game up with a 9th inning…

Baseball Preview: Oregon Hosts Washington in Final Homestand

By Charles Martindale The 2023 season has been another solid one in Eugene, with coach Mark Wasikowski leading the Ducks to a 30-win season for the third consecutive year. With the Pac-12 tournament on the horizon, the rival Washington Huskies come to town for a three game set. On the bump for Oregon Friday night is junior righty Logan Mercado. It's been a mixed bag for Mercado so far this season, putting up respectable innings totals and strikeout numbers while struggling to keep runs off the board. In game two, Jackson Pace takes the ball. Similar to Mercado, Pace has struggled at times this year, but he lacks the swing and miss stuff to go deep into games. Oregon has beaten Washington in all seven of the team's most recent meetings, but will have to play this series without Jace Stoffal, who's presence on the mound has been a steady one for the Ducks. Without Stoffal, freshman Matthew Grabmann slides into the Sunday starter role. This will be Grabmann's eighth… Read More
