WBB: Oregon falls late to No. 11 Oregon State 43-40
Oregon women's basketball couldn't hold on to its lead as the Ducks fell late at Matthew Knight Arena to Oregon State 43-40. As the clock wound down, Maite Cazorla turned the ball over to give Oregon State possession and a chance to close the game out as the Ducks could not respond with yet another buzzer beater. WBB: Ducks trounce Utes, move to .500 in Pac-12 play
The Oregon Ducks completed a sweep of the mountain schools Sunday as they defeated the Utah Utes by a score of 84-66. Leading the way for the Ducks were the dynamic pair of freshman, Ruthy Hebard and Sabrina Ionescu. Hebard tallied 25 points and 10 rebounds, leading to her seventh double-double of the season and second of the weekend. Ionescu, meanwhile, got her third triple-double of the season, adding 14 points,10 rebounds and 13 assists. This is the first game the pair of both reached those feats in the same game. The other key to the Ducks' victory was their stifling defense. Holding the Utes to just % from the field, the Ducks allowed the fewest points they have in conference play. This victory moves Oregon to 4-4 in conference play and 14-6 overall. Next up for Oregon will be a home and home series with their rivals from Corvallis, the Beavers. That will begin on Friday at 8pm at Matthew Knight Arena.
