Oregon baseball downed Santa Clara 6-2 as freshman right-handed pitcher James Acuña earned his first career start for the Ducks in the series opener against the Broncos. Oregon got the scoring started in the secon and carried it over to the third with three runs in each inning, but let up two runs in the top of the eighth to squander the shutout attempt. Oregon continue the four-game series against Santa Clara on Friday at 6 p.m.

This weekend, though, the Ducks are home for the first time in 2017 and will play in front of the Jane Sanders Stadium crowd. The Ducks host the Oregon Invitational, which welcomes in Idaho State University, Hofstra University, and the University of the Pacific. BSB: Ducks finish weekend 3-1, defeat Aggies 7-2
The Oregon Ducks outmatched the UC-Davis Aggies on Monday, defeating them by a score of 7-2. Oregon produced on the mound as well as in the batter's box. Starting pitcher Zack Noll went five innings allowing four hit, one earned run and striking out four. As for the offense, the Ducks got three hits out of both Spencer Steer and Gabe Matthews. Tim Susnara also tied the school record with five walks in a game. Following the victory, Oregon moves to 7-4 on the season. Oregon will wrap up non-conference play with a series against Santa Clara, beginning Thursday.
