The Ducks had a mid-week doubleheader clash with Portland State on Tuesday evening. Game 1 was highlighted by a solid 4th inning for the Ducks, where they scored 4 of their 8 runs, to win with a score of 8-2. Game 2 was a totally different story as it ended up being a pitching duel between Portland State pitcher Emma Detamore and Oregon pitcher Miranda Elish. Miranda Elish had allowed no runs through five innings, and Vikings pitcher Emma Detamore was trying to do the same thing, but Lauren Burke singled and reached on a fielding error to advance to second base and two batters later, Alexis Mack hit an RBI single through the middle to score Burke, ending the games scoring drought. 5th-ranked Oregon Softball responded from their 4-3 loss to Oregon State on Friday with a 5-1 extra innings win on Saturday thanks to a two-out grand slam by DJ Sanders that clinched a series win. The Ducks trailed heading to the 4th after ace Megan Kleist allowed a solo shot to Oregon State shortstop McKenna Arriola, bringing back memories of the previous day's tight loss. Oregon was determined not to lose their first Civil War series since 2012, though, as freshman and Eugene native Lauren Burke knotted up the game at 1 with her single down the left field line in the 5th frame. Despite close calls by both teams, sharp fielding and impeccable pitching forced the day's rubber match to extra innings. In the 8th inning, UO quickly got two runners on, eventually loaded the bases, and cashed in on Sanders' colossal slam to left-center. After Kleist's straightforward bottom of the 8th, Oregon moved to 27-6 on the year and 4-2 in the Pac-12.
