After losing twice to the Arizona Wildcats last season, Oregon dominated the Wildcats at every turn on Friday at Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon swept Arizona by a score of 25-19, 25-17, 25-15. The first set ended up being Arizona's best effort, but they were hampered by errors and allowed Oregon to take command on 5-0 and 6-0 runs. Oregon's defense was excellent once again, holding Arizona to a .119 hitting percentage. Arizona had 9 service errors throughout the match as well. Arizona opened the third set with some life, but Oregon closed out on a 19-5 scoring run. After a quiet first set, Brooke Nuneviller shined for the Ducks. Nuneviller racked up 14 kills on a .464 hitting percentage, and led the Ducks with 16 digs. Taylor Borup was the next closest Duck with 8 kills of her own. Karson Bacon also stood out with six kills and five blocks. Oregon will hope to continue success against Arizona with a rematch on Sunday morning. The Oregon Ducks played their first game under new head coach Graeme Abel, and it's one the team will never forget. The Ducks outlasted the Gonzaga Bulldogs with the final score of 1-0. The game was fast and physical, but the Ducks used their in-game improvements to get the result.
The extended absence away from the pitch meant the Ducks understandably started sluggishly. Gonzaga came out flying, but Oregon did an impressive job of stopping the early onslaught. Redshirt Junior Hannah Taylor got the start at center back and was impressive early before a lower-body injury ended her day early. The Ducks didn't let this unfortunate situation stop them as the first half got further underway, the team started gaining momentum. The usual suspects of Jordan Wormdahl and Zoe Hasaneur were able to have some impressive runs, but the Gonzaga backline limited their opportunities. The first half also marked the Oregon debut of Lexi Romero, a transfer from…
