STORY: Oregon Soccer Holds off Arizona State in a Narrow 1-0 Victory

Oregon Soccer defeated Arizona State University 1-0 in a very scrappy, back and forth match Sunday afternoon. It was overcast the whole game, with the oh so common Oregon rain joining us just as the game was closing up in the 88th minute. The Ducks improve to 3-1-1 in conference play and 8-1-4 overall.
The difference in the game was a 33rd minute solo effort from Kess Elmore. She picked up the ball at nearly the halfway line, dribbled past multiple defenders before benefiting from a healthy deflection off the defender to sneak it in past the goalie. Take nothing away from the finish however; it looked like it was going in the other corner regardless. The goal was the only shot on target of the match for the Ducks.
The tactics of both teams seemed to cancel each other out, especially in the midfield, leading to neither side really having strong possession. Oregon lined up in their classic 4-3-3, but…

#14 Oregon Volleyball climbed back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat #17 Stanford in five sets on Sunday. After claiming the first set 25-21, Stanford collected the next two sets 25-23 and 25-23 before Oregon climbed back with a 25-23 set 4 victory and 15-11 set 5 victory.
Oregon and Stanford went back-and-forth all match, with each team controlling different facets of the match. Oregon was the better attacking team with 70 kills, but Stanford defended extremely well at the net with 20 total blocks. Both teams hit south of .200, showing impressive defense on both sides.

On Thursday night, the Oregon Ducks women’s soccer team opened up home conference play against conference rival Arizona with a 1-0 victory over the Wildcats. The Ducks were happy to return home to Papè Field after three straight away games that saw them go 1-1-1. The Wildcats leave Eugene 3-8 on the season after now dropping their first four conference games.
The Ducks started the game heavy on the ball, and found the back of the net early with a 3rd minute strike from the left foot of Chardonnay Curran. “…I felt that a lot of positions had a lot of space, we did not need to move anywhere, just a matter of being patient and just sitting in the spaces,” Curran stated after the game, talking about the opportunities forwards had early in the match.
