PREVIEW: Oregon Baseball Prepares For Four-Game Set Against Rival Beavers

By Liam Baker

Eugene, OR — The #24 Ducks and #2 Beavers will face off for a four-game set with Pac-12 positioning on the line. The two teams met last Tuesday at PK Park, which saw the Beavers pull out a 4-2 win. Oregon State built a 3-0 lead early, and Justin Boyd robbed Jack Scanlon of a two-run home run to help the Beavers win. The first game of this series will take place on Tuesday in Eugene and the final three games of the series will be held in Corvallis starting Friday.

The Ducks broke their three-game losing streak this weekend, taking two out of three from California. RJ Gordon and Isaac Ayon put together some of their best starts of the season and Anthony Hall and the offense continued to light up the scoreboard. The Ducks' offense will need to continue their hot season that has Oregon first or second in most offensive categories in the Pac-12. They will face off against an Oregon State team that has the best pitching staff in the Pac-12 and one…

SB STORY - No. 22 Oregon Completes Sweep over rivals Oregon State in Final Home Game

By Graham Metzker

The No. 22 Oregon Ducks softball team (29-16) celebrated Senior Day properly, earning their first conference sweep of the season over in-state rivals Oregon State (31-18) with a 4-2 win on Sunday at Jane Sanders Stadium.

It was a pitcher’s duel to start the final game of the series, with aces Stevie Hansen and Mariah Mazon facing off for the second time in three days. Hansen and Mazon combined for 12 strikeouts, but both starters got flustered and gave up multiple runs.

Oregon shortstop Paige Sinicki opened up the scoring on the day with an RBI double in the bottom of the second inning. But Mazon made up for her errors quickly, using her bat in the next half inning to drive in two runs and to give Oregon State the 2-1 lead.

Makenna Kliethermes was forced to enter the game in the third inning after Hansen got roughed up, despite pitching six innings and picking up the win in yesterday’s match. But Kliethermes…

SB STORY - Oregon beats OSU 4-3 in walkoff fashion after a Jasmine Williams single

By Levi Profitt

After what turned out to be a lengthy rain delay, both the Oregon Ducks (28-16) and Oregon State Beavers (31-17) softball squads squared off Saturday night, with the Ducks being able to win on a walk-off RBI single from Jasmine Williams and an errant throw from the Beavers.

Oregon took down the Beavers on Friday night in a rain-shortened game, 5-0, and were looking to get their first series win in over a month. After Stevie Hansen pitched on Friday, it was Makenna Kliethermes' turn to take the mound. Kliethermes looked good through the first inning and a third before letting up a two-run home run to Oregon State's Grace Messmer in the second inning. Kliethermes would end up giving up another run to the Beavers, but kept the scoring there as she would also total 11 strikeouts in six innings pitched, 10 of which came in just four and two-thirds innings.

On the other side, Oregon's offense looked similar to last weekend…

Oregon Baseball Takes Game Two Over California

By Jonah Bruneau

Oregon went into Game Two on Saturday against the California Golden Bears of Berkeley up 1-0 in the series after a 7-2 victory on Friday night. The Ducks carried their winning ways into Saturday as Oregon took the second game of the weekend over the Golden Bears by the final of 8-3, giving them the series win and a chance to sweep on Sunday. Oregon's offense struck for 16 hits, their most since the April 22 series opener at home against Washington State when they accumulated 18 (four game stretch between now and then).

After an approximately 20 minute rain delay at the start of the game, Isaac Ayon (Sophomore) took the mound for the Ducks as he was called upon for his 11th start of the season. Things did not go as planned early for Ayon as on the just the second pitch of the game, Nathan Martorella took Ayon deep to right-center field for a lead-off home run to begin the afternoon. That was shortly followed up by a double from Dylan Beavers,…

Oregon Baseball Comes From Behind to Beat Cal 7-2.

By Liam Baker

On a rainy evening at PK Park, the Oregon Ducks (27-14) beat the California Golden Bears (20-21) 7-2. The Ducks came into the game on a three-game losing streak but were able to break the streak thanks to a great start by RJ Gordon and another offensive outburst by Anthony Hall.

RJ Gordon responded well after a rough start against Washington State last weekend and started the game with three perfect innings. Things didn't go as well for him in the fourth as Dylan Beavers led off the inning with a single and Caleb Lomavita followed two batters later with a double down the left-field line scoring Beavers. Cole Elvis was able to reach safely following an error by Drew Cowley. After two wild pitches, Lomavita scored making it 2-0 Bears. Gordon exited the game with two outs in the sixth inning, only allowing the two runs while striking out four.

Steven Zobac was on the mound for the Bears, and he held the Ducks to just four hits in 5.1…
