Walsh Walkoff Leads Ducks to 5-4 Comeback Victory of #10 Gonzaga
By Liam Baker
In their final midweek game of the season, the Oregon Ducks (32-21) beat the #10 Gonzaga Bulldogs (32-14) 5-4. The win gave the Ducks a season sweep over the Bulldogs. Oregon won the first matchup in Spokane on March 22 by a score of 9-5.
After a scoreless top of the first by Christian Ciuffetelli, the Ducks' offense got off to a hot start in the bottom of the inning. Tanner Smith led off with a single to the pitcher Bradley Mullan. With two outs, Drew Cowley's infield single put runners at the corners. With Josh Kasevich at the plate, Tanner Smith scored on a balk after trying to steal home to make it 1-0. Kasevich followed with a two-run home run off the top of the center-field fence to give the Ducks a 3-0 lead.
The Bulldogs answered back in the top of the second. With Stone Churby on the mound, Dylan Johnson followed a Connor Coballes walk with a double to put runners on second and third. Shea Kramer brought Johnson home with a…

Oregon (31-21) comes off a 15-5 road rout of Arizona State that saw them break their school record for runs scored in a season with 391 with four games still to go. Their remaining four regular season games will be back at PK Park, starting with Tuesday’s date with No. 11 Gonzaga (32-13) at 6 p.m.
The Ducks were able to steal a road win over the Zags back on March 22, in which the deciding factors were an early-inning offensive surge and solid bullpen play to prevent a comeback. Oregon’s record was only half a game behind Gonzaga’s following that win, but they have slipped behind them considerably since then.
Oregon’s offense has been one of the country’s most explosive this season with nearly three times as many home runs as Gonzaga, but their bats will be put to the test against an elite defense that ranks 28th nationally in team ERA and 12th in strikeouts per 9 innings.
Bulldogs catcher Tyler Rando, who…

BSB Preview: Ducks Look to Get Back on Track Against Sun Devils in Tempe After Longest Losing Streak of Season
By Dylan Farrell
Oregon baseball has had its fair share of storylines this season, from its historic offense to its seemingly fruitless search for a consistent starting pitcher. The former has struggled immensely of late, being shut out for the first time ever under head coach Mark Wasikowski on May 3 against Oregon State, then two more times in the subsequent week — one coming against Oregon State again, but the second against a far lesser opponent in UC San Diego. While it’s a subject of debate whether or not to be concerned about Oregon’s repeated losses to OSU, there is no doubt that a shutout loss to UCSD this far into the season is cause for some level of inquiry, especially given that the Ducks have won just one out of their last seven games. The team’s upcoming three game stint against Arizona State gives it a chance to get back on track and build off that one win against UCSD, a 15-6 rout that occurred on Wednesday evening. The Ducks’ loss to UCSD may not be…

BSB | Ducks Offense Explodes To Split Series
By Kent Williams
Audio story:
In the final matchup of a midweek 2-game series versus the UC San Diego Tritons(22-25, 11-10 Big West), the Oregon Ducks baseball team(29-20, 13-11 Pac-12) came out strong after a lackluster performance on Tuesday, putting up 5 runs in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings to win by a score of 15-6. Josh Kasevich set the tone early with a laser of a home run to left, and Sam Novitske followed it up two batters later with a 2-run shot, also to left.
Starting on the mound for the Ducks was Dylan Sabia, although he would only throw 2 innings to the tune of 1 earned run, 2 K's, and no walks. The game turned into a bullpen day for the Ducks, relying on a collection of 5 pitchers to get through 9 innings. A couple of pitchers saw their first action in a little bit, with Kolby Somers taking the mound for the first time in 10 days, and Jacob Hughes seeing his first stint since March 29th.
Defensively, Colby Shade got the…
