BSB | Back and forth game ends with Ducks on top

By Kent Williams

After a rough weekend in Los Angeles, the Oregon Ducks(19-10) returned to Eugene looking to get back on track against the Ball State Cardinals(17-10). They came out victorious in game 1 of the 4-game series against the Cardinals on Friday evening, 13-7. In a game with plenty of ties and lead changes, ultimately it was the Ducks who finished on top after 9 innings.

The game was started by sophomore right RJ Gordon, who finished with 4.2 IP, 4 ER allowed, 3 strikeouts, and 3 walks. This was his 4th start of the season, and he was looking very strong for his first four innings. After running into some trouble in the 5th, he was replaced by Dylan Sabia, who would allow a few inherited runners to score and make it an interesting ballgame. Getting the win for the Ducks though would be Matt Dallas, who pitched 2 innings, only giving up 1 run.

The Ducks offense gave their pitchers plenty of support throughout the game, especially later in the…

PREVIEW: Oregon Baseball looks for some wins against Ball State after a tough stretch

By Levi Profitt

Just like their counterparts on the Oregon Softball team, Ducks baseball also suffered a sweep at the hands of the UCLA Bruins in Los Angeles last weekend. After keeping it close for three one-run losses, the Ducks have to feel disappointed in themselves coming off a series where they just couldn't get the job done.

The Ducks will get a good opportunity to show that last weekend was just a fluke when they take on the Ball State Cardinals this weekend in Eugene. It will be a battle for this Ducks team, however as Ball State has won 12 out of their last 14 games, albeit playing in the Mid-American Conference. This will be Oregon's first venture against a MAC team this season, and it should be a showing of how Oregon can continue to either exceed or struggle against nonconference opponents.

Ball State isn't hitting with the prowess of the Ducks as of late but has fifth-year outfielder Amir Wright who has been able to get…

PREVIEW: Oregon Softball Looks To Bounce Back at Home Against Arizona State This Weekend.

By Jakob Salao

#14 Oregon Softball looks to bounce back after a series loss to the UCLA Bruins at home against their next opponent: the #15 Arizona State Sun Devils.

The loss against UCLA was the first time that Oregon has lost a series against an opponent this year. The Sun Devils are coming into this series off of a 14 game win streak after sweeping the Arizona Wildcats in convincing fashion. Despite the loss, Head Coach Melyssa Lombardi’s confidence in the team hasn’t wavered.

“We've got a really good team, and in order for us to compete and do the things we need to do, we need to be clean across the board,” Lombardi said. “When we have the opportunity to clutch up and hit, we need to hit.”

Compared to the Ducks’ recent hitting struggles, Arizona State ranks top three in almost every major hitting statistic in the nation. The Sun Devils are currently 3rd in hitting percentage (0.344…
