Eugene, OR - Oregon (26-13) baseball is coming off a series loss to Washington State, but they'll have to prepare for the #2 ranked rival Oregon State ballclub (31-8) as the Beavers come to Eugene for a midweek Tuesday series April 26th at PK Park. Oregon State brings a team to the diamond that's won 11 out of it's last 12, and has scored at least four runs in it's last seven games. They're no slouch on the pitching mound either, with five pitchers who have an ERA below 2.5 compared to just one for Oregon.

Oregon State: The Beavers Tuesday go-to as of late is Jaren Hunter, a sophomore from Damascus, Oregon, who's pitched 26.1 innings this year with an ERA of 5.47 and a record of 1-1. On a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Jane Sanders Stadium, The final game of the Oregon Ducks (26-16, 5-13) series was played against Washington (28-11, 9-6) ending in a 3-0 sweep for the Huskies. UW dominated game 1, and game 2 went into extra innings. Game 3 was another dominating performance from the Huskies where they pulled out their victory with a score of 5-0. 

Makenna Klitethermes got the start after a rough day yesterday, and was looking for a different outcome after the shaky start yesterday. Kliethermes ended up pitching all 7 innings, finishing the day off with 7 IP, 5 earned runs, 5 strikeouts, and 2 walks. Kliethermes being able to go all 7 innings is a great sign for the Ducks, allowing the team to not always rely on Stevie Hansen. Kliethermes' earned runs came from a 3 run shot in the top of the 2nd, a RBI double in the 4th, as well as a sac fly in the top of the 5th.

In the third and final game of the home series for the Ducks(26-13, 11-7 Pac-12), the Washington State Cougars(16-22, 7-14 Pac-12) had a big comeback win to take the rubber match on what was otherwise a beautiful day in Eugene. Oregon got off to a good start offensively, and maintained a 6-0 lead through the first five inning, but Wazzu figured it out late and came away with the victory.

The starting pitcher for the Ducks was righty Issac Ayon, who was very good through his first five innings, not allowing a run and throwing a few 1-2-3 innings to take control of the Cougars lineup. He ran into trouble in the 6th inning, allowing 3 earned runs, but managed to finish the frame before being replaced in the 7th. Lefty Rio Britton would relieve him, and throw a scoreless inning before giving up a 2-run homer to bring the score within 2. With a save situation, closer Kolby Somers would come in…

On a very sunny and warm Saturday evening at Jane Sanders stadium, the Oregon Ducks(26-15, 5-12 Pac-12) took on rival Washington Huskies(27-11, 8-6 Pac-12) in game 2 of a 3-game set, after UW took game 1 by way of the run rule. This game was a lot more competitive, with the Huskies coming out on top in extras by a score of 9-7.

Oregon pitching got off to a rough start, with Makenna Kliethermes getting the nod and struggling to find the strike zone, walking 5 batters in her 1.1 innings pitched before getting replaced by Stevie Hansen, who would finish the game from there. Hansen finished with 6.2 IP, 3 earned runs, 3 strikeouts, and a walk. And despite coming away with the loss, she was practically unhittable for the middle portion of the game, throwing three straight perfect innings from the 3rd to the 5th, followed by leadoff singles in the 6th and 7th that amounted to nothing.
