Oregon Baseball Addresses the Media Ahead of Three-Game Series Against Washington State
By Jonah Bruneau
As Oregon prepares for a three-game weekend home stand against the struggling 14-21 Washington State Cougars, Head Coach Mark Wasikowski talked to the media about the current state of the team following the three game sweep of Washington, and the road win against Portland. Coach Wasikowski was also asked about the return of Junior Drew Cowley, who came back from a hand injury in the game at Portland after missing a month of play.
Cowley himself spoke to the media as well about the recovery process from breaking a bone in his hand and where the current state of his hand strength stands. Kolby Somers and Tanner Smith joined Coach Wasikowski and Drew Cowley as well in Thursdays' media address.
Oregon opens up the three-game series against Washington State on Friday, April 22 with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 PM PT live from PK Park in Eugene.

By Austin Ota
After struggling for the greater part of the last two weekends, it would be fair to assume that Stevie Hansen was overused, she had pitched too much, and why, for Gods' sake, would the freshman start her sixth straight game? Hansen quickly proved any doubters of her dominance wrong, striking out the side in her first inning of work and somehow only getting better from there, reminding Ducks fans that Oregon has their future in the circle as we speak. Going above the double-digit mark for the first time in her career, Hansen was able to maneuver through the solid Portland State Vikings lineup, finishing with twelve strikeouts and just two hits allowed over her six innings of work. Her curveball continued to dance around the Vikings bats, and she complemented it with her devastating riseball, with Terra McGowan likely all smiles watching her pitcher dominate from 45 feet away.
Oregon's bats had a tough task in front of them, with…

EUGENE, OR — Oregon will take on the Portland State Vikings on Tuesday afternoon in hopes of making a statement and turning the tide on a skid that has seen the team post a 1-8 record through the month of April that included an abysmal seven-game losing streak that saw the team’s ranking drop from 12 to 17 nationally. Portland State enters the game on the hells of a five-game winning streak over which they have outscored opponents 26-6. Oregon hopes to repeat the outcome of the teams’ earlier matchup, where the Ducks decisively defeated the Vikings 7-0. A mood-setting victory would start a difficult stretch for Oregon on a positive note, as the team is set to play its final nine games of conference play evenly split among Washington, Oregon State and Stanford.
Pitching has proven to be Oregon’s Achilles heel since the team’s close series loss to UCLA earlier this month. The Ducks have held opponents to fewer than 9 runs only once in their last…

EUGENE, OR — The 2022 Oregon Ducks (24-11) baseball season has been historic. The Ducks, who were just recently ranked #20 in the D1 Baseball rankings, have been setting records and accomplishing tasks not seen in Eugene for a long time. In fact, over the weekend, Oregon swept Washington in Seattle for the first time since 1976 and bested the Huskies in a 3-game series on the road for the first time since 2010. That’s in addition to the Ducks' four home runs over the weekend that put them at 55 home runs for the season — one short of the program record for home runs in a season with 21 games left to play. At this pace, Oregon is projected to finish with 88 home runs in the 56-game regular season.
Oregon now heads 175 miles South down the I-5 from Seattle to Portland as the Ducks have a one-game Tuesday night matchup against the Portland Pilots (20-14). This is the second time this season the Ducks and Pilots…

#17 Oregon Softball (24-11) will try to snap a 6-game losing streak against #25 Arizona (21-14) this weekend. Oregon is in the middle of their toughest stretch of the season, as Arizona is their 3rd straight opponent who appeared in the 2021 NCAA Tournament, with 18 of 19 games against currently ranked teams. Oregon has not fared well so far during this stretch, being consecutively swept by #5 UCLA and #13 Arizona State. Arizona Softball has won 2 of their last 10 games, all against conference opponents.
This series is an important point in the season for the Ducks, as they currently sit 6th in the Pac-12 standings. After the most recent loss, senior Infielder Allee Bunker spoke on the team’s attitude going forward: “You’ve got to decide where you’re going to go from here, and we’ve made a decision as team that we need to make a change going into next weekend in order to get what we want. We understood…
